Evolved Stufful will learn an unique move: by evolving Stufful during this Pokemon GO Community Day, it will learn the charged attack Drain Punch. Not only this attack is new in the game, but it can provide Bewear a defensive edge that’s great for trainer battles.

Take snapshots: by taking snapshots, certain Pokemon may jump into frame, and trainers will get a chance to catch it.

Complete Field Researches: by completing as many Field Researches as you can, you’ll have more opportunities to encounter Stufful during the Community Day – you might also encounter its shiny version as well.

WhatsApp for iOS now supports up to 32 participants group voice calls, Reactions coming soon

WhatsApp for iOS now supports up to 32 participants group voice calls, Reactions coming soon

The latest WhatsApp iOS version brings a new feature that the company first teased last week. Starting now, users will be able to participe in group voice calls with up to 32 participants. This update contains everything you need to know.

WhatsApp is readying a lot of new features for the coming months, such as Reactions, increased size files users can send, community function, and more. With version 22.8. 80 of the app, users will now be able to participate in group voice calls with up to 32 people.

This update includes a redesign interface with a social audio layout, speaker highlight, and waveforms.

This new WhatsApp app for iOS features an updated design of voice message bubbles, info screens for groups and contacts. You can also access your favourite media gallery with a new feature.

It’s important that you note that these new features have been made available to users in the app. However, it could take some time for all users to see them, just as with WhatsApp new functions.

Apart from these features being released to all users, WABetaInfo recently discovered that the developers are readying Reactions 2.0 to its desktop version. This means that in a future update users will be able to react to a message with any emoji they want.

Last but not least, WhatsApp keeps working on the ability to remove the expiration date of a disappearing message. WABetaInfo explains:

When you keep a message it won’t disappear from the chat after its expiration, but anyone can un-keep it in the case they don’t agree to keep the message in the chat after the expiration. If a message is kept, it means it was a disappearing message converted to a normal message to avoid the expiration. If someone attempts to delete a message they will immediately remove it from chat

.

Are you excited to try all of these WhatsApp features? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Apple @ Work: Tailscale is a first-principles approach to VPN technology with full macOS and iOS support

Apple @ Work: Tailscale is a first-principles approach to VPN technology with full macOS and iOS support

Apple @ Work is brought to you by Mosyle, the leader in modern mobile device management (MDM) and security for Apple enterprise and education customers. Over 28,000 organizations leverage Mosyle solutions to automate the deployment, management and security of millions of Apple devices daily. Request a FREE account today and discover how you can put your Apple fleet on auto-pilot at a price point that is hard to believe.

There’s a concept of building from first principles that can create some pretty incredible products. VPN is one example of a technology I have long believed was too complicated. Remote work has brought VPNs to the forefront, with employees wanting access to company resources wherever they may be. I recently came across a product that works great on macOS that takes that first-principles approach to how VPN connections work, and it’s called Tailscale.

About Apple @ Work: Bradley Chambers managed an enterprise IT network from 2009 to 2021. Through his experience deploying and managing firewalls, switches, a mobile device management system, enterprise grade Wi-Fi, 100s of Macs, and 100s of iPads, Bradley will highlight ways in which Apple IT managers deploy Apple devices, build networks to support them, train users, stories from the trenches of IT management, and ways Apple could improve its products for IT departments.

VPN setup is clunky at best. Different firewalls require different setups, and it can sometimes be challenging to get the proper devices to the correct servers depending on the subnet, IP scheme, etc. By implementing Tailscale, it’s easy to connect to another network by using a stable IP address for each device (server, laptop, etc.). No matter the location of nodes in the physical world, these addresses remain the same. Each device gets an IP in the 100.X range, and it’s assigned based on the device and the Tailscale login.

Using Tailscale with macOS

I’ve got a fairly simple use case with Tailscale for personal use. I want to access my Umbrel server (learn how to build one in my past guide) remotely as well as my Plex server. Umbrel has a Tailscale app in its App Store, so the setup was painless. It is now accessible from any location. Because it’s on my Umbrel and Plex servers, when I need to access them directly I enable Tailscale on Mac. Then I can easily connect to these devices.

What problem does this solve in the enterprise?

Tailscale is built on top of WireGuard. WireGuard, a secure encrypted network protocol with a lot of benefits over traditional VPNs, is fast and reliable. Tailscale adds to WireGuard by adding automatic mesh configuration, single sign-on support, 2-multi-factor authentication, NAT traversal, and centralized Access Control Lists (ACLs).

Let’s suppose you have employees scattered across the country or world. You want to secure let them use company resources such as internal servers via VPN, while still allowing public internet traffic to run locally. TailScale works this way out of the box. Tailscale acts as an overlay network, routing traffic only between Tailscale devices. It doesn’t handle traffic that isn’t aimed at Tailscale devices. This default configuration allows Tailscale to run on macOS and iOS at all times, without having all traffic sent through it.

To sum it up, Tailscale is an affordable VPN that requires no configuration, installs on any device in a few seconds, handles firewall rules for you, and works from anywhere. While my use case is 100% personal, you can see the benefits it could bring to enterprises everywhere. Tailscale is truly a VPN for the remote-work world. It’s one of those rare solutions that “just works.” Pricing starts at free for one user with up to 20 devices, and paid plans start at $5/month (paid annually). So, if you’re struggling to roll out VPN access to your entire company in a way that’s not stretching your team with troubleshooting, check out Tailscale. Its VPN so simple, I am not sure Apple or Google could have made it any easier. It works great on macOS and iPhone and iPad.

LG V60 ThinQ is now receiving Android 12 in the US

LG V60 ThinQ is now receiving Android 12 in the US

LG might have pulled out of the smartphone market completely, but the Korean firm has not been averse to software support and does not want to disappoint its customers. So it announced that it would update select models to Android 12 and even to Android 13, and the rollouts for the Velvet have already started.

And now a new LG device is joining this party. We’re talking about the LG V60 ThinQ in the US, and specifically those units that were sold by T-Mobile. Multiple reports on Reddit have surfaced from people owning this device, and receiving the update to Android 12.

LG V60 ThinQ is now receiving Android 12 in the US

That’s excellent news of course, but it’s also rather odd, since the V60 was on neither of LG’s two lists of eligible devices. We don’t mind that the company keeps surprising us.

Anyway, the update’s changelog is short and vague, but you should expect to receive all the goodies that Google packed into the Android 12 release last year, with some LG paint on top. You also get the March 2022 security patch level, which obviously isn’t current, but can we really complain when the company issuing it has called it quits in the smartphone world?

The update’s download size is 1. 17GB, so perhaps only grab it from a fast enough network. As always, it’s likely that the rollout is staged, so it may take a few more days until it reaches all of the V60 units still out there in the wild.

Man uses AirTags and PowerPoint presentation to ask airline for his lost bags

Man uses AirTags and PowerPoint presentation to ask airline for his lost bags

Since Apple introduced AirTag last year, multiple interesting stories related to the item tracker have been shared on the web. A man lost his luggage on a trip to his wedding used AirTags with a PowerPoint presentation in order to request his bag.

Elliot Sharod and his wife, Helen, were flying back to the UK from their wedding in South Africa on April 17. The couple purchased tickets that included stopovers at Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt. However, they were forced to change their flight schedule due to the pandemic. Their luggage was not returned to the UK when they made it.

Sharod put an AirTag in each bag so that he could locate them on the map. The Find My app enabled the couple to track their bags on a map. They discovered that their bag went to Frankfurt but never made it to London.

Aer Lingus, the airline responsible for the flight, said that the bags would be delivered to Sharod’s home address. Two of three bags arrived the next night.

After numerous calls to Aer Lingus with no results, Sharod complained via Twitter. But even that wasn’t enough. Sharod decided to try a new approach. He posted videos, and made a PowerPoint presentation using screenshots from Find My App showing where his bag was.

He told CNN that the bag was located in two different places in Pimlico, and it has never moved since April 21. However, the airline was unable to find it, so Sharod contacted the police as he now believes the bag was stolen.

Hi @AerLingus – perhaps a PowerPoint presentation on the journey you’ve sent my lost/stolen bag on will help?

I’ve been telling you repeatedly where it is, and you do nothing to change it.

This has been a shocking experience with you pic.twitter.com/105BdEM7MU

— AirTag Adventurer (@aviosAdventurer) April 22, 2022

While this saga doesn’t seem to be nearing an end, it’s always interesting to see how useful AirTag can actually be in situations like this. Sharod should be able get his bag back.

Do you have interesting stories about Apple’s AirTag technology?

Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable teardown shows why the accessory is expensive

Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable teardown shows why the accessory is expensive

When Apple announced Mac Studio and Studio Display earlier this year, the company also quietly introduced a new Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable capable of up to 40Gb/s data transfer and charging up to 100W. While it comes with the high price of $129, a new teardown of the cable shows why the accessory is super expensive.

The teardown was conducted by ChargerLAB, which posted a YouTube video showing all the details and specifications of Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable. The cable taken apart was the 1. 8-meter version, as the 3-meter version (priced at $159) is not yet available in stores.

Apple’s new Thunderbolt cable features a braided design that coils without tangling and makes it more durable. But while it may look like just a regular cable on the outside despite its 5 millimeter diameter, the inside of the cable reveals some interesting details.

As shown by ChargerLAB, the accessory is a coaxial cable with 19 wires inside. The cable is protected by a waterproof and dustproof woven layer. A second layer of protection is provided by thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which has a thin foil shielding layer.

Among the 19 wires, there are 5 tinned copper wires used for power supply. The video notes that most of the wires are plated with silver and pure copper. It also highlights 2 white plastic-covered wires used for USB 2.0 transmission (the cable is backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and regular USB).

There are multiple components inside the connectors. They have a hard-black plastic cover and brass sleeves. An Intel chip is one of the main components. It manages Thunderbolt connections and reduces signal jitter. Each connector has 24 pins, which are all gold plated.

ChargerLAB explains that Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable is very well built with premium materials that make it more durable and less susceptible to interference, not to mention the licensed Intel chip that stabilizes signal transmission. The cable is a great choice for professionals who need to transfer large quantities of data.

You can buy Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable from the Apple Store, or look for more affordable third-party alternatives at Amazon.

vivo X80 full specs leak

vivo X80 full specs leak

A couple of days ago the full specs of vivo’s upcoming X80 Pro leaked, and today the vanilla X80 has received the same treatment. Not just that, but we have some renders of the phone to go with the specs too.

The X80 is said to come with a 6. 78-inch 1080p 120 Hz AMOLED touchscreen with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC at the helm, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256 or 512GB of UFS 3. 1 storage, and a 32 MP front-facing camera.

vivo X80 full specs leak

On the rear there’s a triple camera system, with a 50 MP 1/1. 56″ main sensor with f/1. 75 aperture, a 12 MP ultrawide, and a 12 MP “portrait telephoto” (so most likely 2x zoom). The phone measures 165 x 75. 2 x 8. 3 mm, and weighs 205g. It will run OriginOS Ocean with Android 12 underneath. The battery is a 4,500 mAh unit with support for 80W wired charging.

Compared to the Pro, the vanilla X80 has the same size screen but it’s lower-res, while the battery is 200 mAh smaller. It also seems likely, based on the most recent rumors, that the Pro employs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

The X80 foregoes wireless charging support unlike its Pro sibling, and the rear camera system is different too – with the only shared camera between the two seemingly being the 12 MP portrait shooter. The X80 Pro has a 50 MP main sensor too, but with an f/1. 57 aperture, and there’s also a 48 MP ultrawide as well as an 8 MP periscope zoom lens.

The X80 series will debut vivo’s newly improved V1+ dedicated imaging chip, which is the first such piece of silicon to work with high-end SoCs from both Qualcomm and MediaTek. The phones will be made official at an event on April 25.

Recipe app for iOS ‘Pestle’ gets major update with new editor, photo scanner, more

Recipe app for iOS ‘Pestle’ gets major update with new editor, photo scanner, more

We recently covered an update to the recipe app for iOS “Pestle” that added new sharing options for users. Will Bishop is an indie developer who also created Chirp for Apple Watch. He’s releasing Pestle with new features such as a photo scanner and Quick Notes support.

For those that haven’t used Pestle before, this app allows you to import recipes from any site. The app turns them into a step-by-step process automatically. The app has been available in previous versions. You can use SharePlay to cook with other users, voice command to skip the next step, or print a recipe.

With version 1. 1, the app is getting even more features. The Recipe Editor has been completely revamped with more options, so you can now edit nutrition information, add sources, and even video URLs. And thanks to the Live Text API on iOS 15, Pestle is now able to scan physical recipes from photos to turn them into digital recipes.

Quick Notes is another feature that was added to the latest version. This time it’s for iPad users. In iPadOS 15, you can quickly drag from the right corner of the screen to create a quick note about the recipe you looking at with a direct link to the app. According to the developer, the update also fixes overall bugs.

If you want to give the app a try, Pestle is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad as a free download with in-app purchases. You can read more about Pestle here on 9to5Mac.
