LG closed its mobile division in April. This left a large gap in the US smartphone market. According to the most recent Counterpoint Research <\/i> reports, Motorola surpassed Samsung’s 000% market share and Apple with its 4%. Sell-through rates for Motorola smartphones grew by 131% in 2021 leading to a 10% market share which is an all-time high for Moto and places it behind Samsung’s 22% market share and Apple with its 58% share. <\/p>\n

Motorola also rose up to the number two spot in the $400 and under price segment in the US. The maker’s sub $300 portfolio is also a key contributor to its success over the last year with the Moto G Stylus, Moto G Power and Moto G Pure selling particularly well. Carrier deals and promotions are also notable contributors to Motorola’s rise. <\/p>\n

Counterpoint notes that Motorola’s momentum from 2021 is carried over to Q1 2022 with robust sales figures. Looking forward Counterpoint analysts expect the brand to keep pushing sale-through values in the higher price tiers and challenging Samsung and Apple in the flagship segment. <\/p>\n
