DIGI SWAP is actually made up of two parts, two sides of the same coin. You have the adapter, which attaches on the back of the film camera. It acts as an iPhone mount. The adapter project the film image through your film camera’s lens onto the iPhone’s camera. This transforms the phone into the equivalent roll of film. The experience is not complete without the DIGI SWAP application.
That app is almost magical in the way that it seemingly syncs with what you do on the film camera without actually connecting physically with those controls. Except for the ability to adjust some settings, such as the ISO sensitivity or aperture, all of the actions happen automatically. The film camera controls are used to adjust the aperture, shutter speed and focus. However, the iPhone automatically saves the image to its gallery as soon as you push the physical shutter button.

This has the effect to recreate both the feel and the visual style old-school film cameras that often had a blurry quality. You can pull the wind-up lever just before you shoot your picture, just like in the old days. In fact, the app even has a “Film Empty” screen that shows up after taking 36 shots. It’s an artificial limit, so you can continue shooting by taping the “Film Replacement” button. However, the app faithfully reproduces those emotions when film runs out.
