DSCC: Apple MacBook Air 15-inch model rumored for 2023

While the current MacBook Air rumors suggest a refreshed 13-inch model is on its way later this year we may get an even larger model in 2023. The latest Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) quarterly report suggests the 15-inch MacBook Air will arrive next year with the largest screen to date on a MacBook Air series laptop. The report also mentions a new larger base model iPad which will succeed the current 10. 2-inch model next year.

Apple has been flirting with the idea of a 15-inch MacBook Air since 2008 as revealed in leaked documents that surfaced thanks to the Epic Games v Apple legal trial. Apple ultimately went with the more portable 13-inch MacBook Air and the rest is history but a 15-inch model will be a welcome addition fitting right between the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros in terms of screen real estate.

Not much else is known about the rumored 15-inc MacBook Air for now but we hope more info will surface in the meantime.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4 to run SD 8 Gen 1, a scrollable phone may join them

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4 to run SD 8 Gen 1, a scrollable phone may join them

Samsung already introduced the Galaxy S flagships for 2022, and now the company is obviously shifting its focus to this year’s foldables, namely Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4. The leakster Ice Universe reported these devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

He also corroborates the Korean manufacturer yesterday’s rumor of a third device to launch alongside them – it is code-named Diamond and may even have a scroll screen, similar to the Oppo X 2021 rollable concept.

Is this a Samsung rollable phone? Is this a Samsung rollable phone?

Samsung does have its own flagship chipset – the Exynos 2200 with a GPU based on ARM architecture, but the Galaxy foldables have so far arrived with Qualcomm SoCs ever since the first Fold three years ago.

As for the rollable phone, Samsung Display is capable of manufacturing flexible panels, but there are still plenty of challenges remaining so it will be manufactured in very limited numbers. Oppo’s prototype was showcased in late 2020, and almost 18 months later we are yet to see a commercial-ready product.

OnePlus 10Pro originally launched in China back in January and has taken its sweet time to arrive to global markets. A vanilla OnePlus 10 is nowhere to be mentioned in the new teasers for the global launch so it seems we’ll have to wait a bit more for that model to arrive.

PUBG Mobile Esports picks Sony Xperia flagships as the official smartphones for the 2022 tournaments

PUBG Mobile Esports picks Sony Xperia flagships as the official smartphones for the 2022 tournaments

Sony Xperia is the official smartphone partner for the 2022 global tournaments in PUBG Mobile. For the forthcoming competitions, Sony will provide its flagships for pro players all over the globe.

This year more tournaments will be held in more regions so that more people will have the opportunity to compete. There will be two major events – the 2022 PUBG Mobile Global Championship and a mid-year tournament (details on the latter will be revealed soon).

” Player experience is a priority at PUBG MOBILE esports. It felt easy and natural to partner with Sony’s Xperia(tm). We look forward to seeing our players showcasing an even stronger performance with their Xperia flagship series at our global tournaments this year.” said James Yang, Director of PUBG Mobile Global Esports.

PUBG Mobile Esports picks Sony Xperia flagships as the official smartphones for the 2022  tournaments

You may not think of the Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III as gaming phones, but Sony actually put a lot of effort into making them just that. The engineers have been consulting pro players since the Mark II generation. They went as far as recording the finger movements of the players and replicating them with a robot to help them fine-tune the display. The display has a 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate, by the way.

There are also features such as the “L-g riser”, which highlights the shadows without obscuring the rest of an image, to help you spot dark enemies. It will be interesting to see if the tournament rules allow the usage of this feature and Sony’s other game tweaks.

Google updates search rankings to make good reviews easier to find

Google updates search rankings to make good reviews easier to find

Google has been working on ways to sort out good product reviews from bad ones before presenting them to the user. Last year’s update promoted product reviews that provide evidence of the actual handling of the product. It also provided links to other sellers so buyers have more options.

Now the search giant is rolling out a new update to how it ranks product reviews to separate expert reviews from less informative ones. These new guidelines make it more clear that reviews must not only contain information from manufacturers but also provide firsthand experiences of the product.

Google updates search rankings to make good reviews easier to find

A good review isn’t just about the positive side. It also doesn’t focus on the product alone. The review should include pros and cons, and comparisons between the product and previous versions. Here are the four key items that today’s update focuses on:

  • Include helpful in-depth details, like the benefits or drawbacks of a certain item, specifics on how a product performs or how the product differs from previous versions
  • Come from people who have actually used the products, and show what the product is physically like or how it’s used
  • Include unique information beyond what the manufacturer provides — like visuals, audio or links to other content detailing the reviewer’s experience
  • Cover comparable products, or explain what sets a product apart from its competitors

Note that this update covers only English-language product reviews and will be rolled out gradually so you should start seeing its effects soon. Google has been happy with these changes and will continue to work to make product reviews ranking in other languages.

You can read the guidelines from Google that describe what makes a good review. This boils down to research and backing up claims with tests results. Also, explaining why a product is better than others.
