Nvidia launches GeForce RTX 3090 Ti for $1999

Nvidia launches GeForce RTX 3090 Ti for $1999

Nvidia has finally released the GeForce RTX 3090 T, its flagship consumer graphic card. It was revealed in January along with the RTX 3050..

The RTX 3090 Ti has a fully enabled GA102 GPU with 10752 CUDA cores, which is only slightly higher than the 10496 on the RTX 3090. The RT cores have gone up from 82 to 84 and the Tensor cores from 328 to 336. It includes the same 24GB of GDDR6X memory but the speed has been increased from 19. 5 Gbps to 21 Gbps.

Nvidia claims the RTX 3090 Ti has 40 TFLOPS of single precision performance compared to 35 TFLOPS of the RTX 3090. In gaming, it is 9 percent faster on average compared to the RTX 3090.

Nvidia launches GeForce RTX 3090 Ti for $1999

Nvidia seems to be primarily positioning the RTX 3090 Ti as a content creator’s card, focusing on the 24GB of memory you get compared to the 10GB or 12GB of the RTX 3080 and 3080 Ti. However, even the standard RTX 3090 has 24GB of memory, so I’m not sure what’s new here.

Similarly, the company is once again making claims of 8K gaming, which are about as realistic today as they were two years ago when the RTX 3090 was announced.

The final announcement from milquetoast is the insane price. This model comes with a very cool . That’s a 33 percent increase over the RTX 3090 despite the company’s own single digit performance improvement claims. And since this is MSRP, expect to pay a lot more in the current market.

I’m certain this will be a popular choice for those looking to get the best graphics card available. The RTX 3090 used to be the fastest available card, while the RTX 3090 T is vastly faster. There are also customers who don’t care about money or can earn their hardware back. There are the scalpers, and crypto miners. So it’s not as if there isn’t a market for it. And GPU manufacturers know this, which is why they have stopped pretending that prices need to be sensible when you can get away with putting any number on the box.

Google still working on Face Unlock for Pixel 6 series

Google still working on Face Unlock for Pixel 6 series

The Google Pixel 6 duo still don’t have Face Unlock over half a year since their initial launch. According to rumors, Google was planning to add facial recognition to their phones. However, it missed the deadline and shipped the flagship devices without this feature. There might still be some hope though as XDA Recognized Developer Freak07 found new evidence of Face Unlock on Pixel 6 series while digging through the Android 12 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) 3 Beta.

Google still working on Face Unlock for Pixel 6 series

The evidence suggests that Google might still push Face Unlock for Pixel 6 phones as a future software update but there’s no release timeframe for now. There’s also the possibility that Google is working on bringing facial recognition to a future Pixel phone and is testing out the feature on a Pixel 6 device. Based on previous evidence, Face Unlock on Pixel 6 was using up too much power during the facial recognition stage.

Counterpoint: Motorola was third largest smartphone OEM in the US for 2021

LG closed its mobile division in April. This left a large gap in the US smartphone market. According to the most recent Counterpoint Research reports, Motorola surpassed Samsung’s 000% market share and Apple with its 4%. Sell-through rates for Motorola smartphones grew by 131% in 2021 leading to a 10% market share which is an all-time high for Moto and places it behind Samsung’s 22% market share and Apple with its 58% share.

Motorola also rose up to the number two spot in the $400 and under price segment in the US. The maker’s sub $300 portfolio is also a key contributor to its success over the last year with the Moto G Stylus, Moto G Power and Moto G Pure selling particularly well. Carrier deals and promotions are also notable contributors to Motorola’s rise.

Counterpoint: Motorola was the third leading smartphone OEM in the US for 2021

Counterpoint notes that Motorola’s momentum from 2021 is carried over to Q1 2022 with robust sales figures. Looking forward Counterpoint analysts expect the brand to keep pushing sale-through values in the higher price tiers and challenging Samsung and Apple in the flagship segment.

vivo showcases the X Fold in first official video, vivo Pad also appears

The vivo X Fold will arrive on April 11, and the company is ramping up its teaser campaign. Now we have our first glimpse at the vivo X Fold.

In a 30-second promo video, the phone is revealed from all angles, and we can see a Zeiss-branded quad-cam setup, a vegan leather back panel, and a foldable inner display that appears to have a minimal crease.

At the same time, vivo also revealed its first tablet that will have the simple name vivo Pad. The tablet will be extremely thin and appear on the same platform as the X Fold. It will feature a dual camera at the back and four speakers. We also have the visual cues from OriginOS Ocean.

We expect to see a vivo X Note smartphone at the event in mid-April as well. This handset will have a massive 7″ screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It is highly unlikely any of these devices will escape China, but we can hope.

OnePlus 10 Pro will charge slower in North America

OnePlus 10 Pro will charge slower in North America

The OnePlus 10 Pro launched in January in China will make its global debut on March 31. The smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and just ahead of its international launch, OnePlus took to its forums to talk about how the flagship will offer fast and smooth performance with its hardware and software. But, one of the most interesting bits revealed by OnePlus is regarding the 10 Pro’s charging speed, and it could disappoint fans in North America.

OnePlus revealed that the 10 Pro’s global model will support 80W wired charging like its Chinese counterpart, filling the 5,000 mAh battery from 1% to 100% in 32 minutes. However, these speeds will be limited to Europe and India as far as international markets are concerned, with units in North America only going up to 65W.

OnePlus 10 Pro won't support 80W charging in all regions

OnePlus said this is because “80W SUPERVOOC does not currently support 110 or 120-volt AC power – the typical standard for power outlets in the region. “

The phone maker doesn’t tell us how much extra time will the OnePlus 10 Pro take for a full charge with 65W SuperVooc, but it does say that the smartphone will go from 1-100% in 47 minutes with 50W wireless charging in all regions.

We will hopefully find out more about this during the March 31 event. You can head to OnePlus . for the complete post.

Apple reportedly cuts iPhone SE production by 20%

Apple reportedly cuts iPhone SE production by 20%

Apple revealed the new iPhone SE this month and has already gone on sale. It seems that Apple isn’t expecting the device to perform as well as they had hoped.

According to a new rumor out of Asia, Apple is telling multiple suppliers that it aims to cut production orders by 2 to 3 million units for the second quarter of this year (the one starting in April and ending in June). That apparently means it wants to make about 20% fewer iPhone SE (2022) units than it initially planned.

Apple reportedly cuts iPhone SE production by 20%

“Sources briefed on the matter” told Nikkei Asia that the blame for this move goes to the looming global inflation as well as the war in Ukraine, both of which “have started to dent consumer electronics demand”.

Apple also reportedly cut orders for AirPods by more than 10 million units for all of 2022, as it apparently predicts “lukewarm demand” for the earphones and wants to reduce inventories. Last year, Apple shipped 76. 8 million units of AirPods, according to Counterpoint Research data. The new production cuts could lead to a decrease in overall 2022 shipments.

Apple is also said to have asked suppliers to make 2 million fewer iPhone 13 handsets (across the entire range) than previously planned, but this adjustment was explained by seasonal demand fluctuations and nothing else.
