This Digital Piano makes a beautiful impression with its wooden finish, grand piano-like acoustic
Some musicians will probably tell you it doesn’t matter how an instrument looks as long as the owner knows how to play it. It’s true: Beautiful music can be made by anyone who knows how to play a musical instrument.
It’s not the instrument but the musician that creates and controls the sound. However, it wouldn’t hurt if the instrument is of excellent quality and looks nice like this Donner Digital Piano (DDP-80). This stylish piano looks like modern furniture and is environmentally friendly.
Designer: Donner
Acoustic-wise, the DDP-80 is at par with a French grand piano. The DDP-379000 is stylish and affordable, but it also offers premium audio. Its minimalist design makes it a striking addition to any space. It’s a modern furniture item that can make lovely music.
When played correctly, it brings pleasure to the ears. The piano is designed to please the eyes as well as the ears. With its wooden finish, the piano will look great in any setting. It comes with 88 full-sized weighted keys, so it feels like a real piano.
Donner’s new feature-rich electronic keyboard looks great in its wood finish. This mid-century style is suitable for most interiors. You will likely think of vintage cabinets that you have from decades past.
The digital piano is environment-friendly with its low-formaldehyde, biodegradable material in either walnut or cherry wooden finish. It has slim legs and is angled to resemble a desk. To keep the piano’s simple appearance, buttons and knobs are located on its rear.
The Donner DDP-80 is more than just its charming form. The digital piano technology works flawlessly. You can connect it to your smartphone or tablet via USB-MDI. You can also use it with digital audio workstations to create beautiful music.
Donner DDP-80 is a fully-weighted keyboard, so it feels like you’re playing a real piano. You can have the exact same playing experience with an acoustic keyboard, but it has a full sound. This Donner piano has a smaller footprint and is therefore more appealing than other furniture. You will need to purchase the matching foot pedal and bench for your piano.
This retro piano decor is ready to grace any room with its wooden texture and charming presence. It is evident in every corner of the room that this decor has been meticulously made. It’s compact enough for easy transport and storage and is also easy to assemble.

Final Fantasy 16 nears completion, producer says, trailer coming soon
Just a week after Naoki Yoshida revealed, in a roundabout way, that Final Fantasy 16 was in its “final stages,” the game’s producer further clarified the status of the game’s development. According to new comments from Yoshida, Final Fantasy 16 is nearing completion and is in the process of being polished and debugged.
Yoshida also said that a new trailer for Final Fantasy 16 is done and ready to go, but was held back by undisclosed factors. Yoshida has promised to give Final Fantasy fans a new look at FF16 sometime this spring, which gives him through June to keep that promise.
The latest update on Final Fantasy 16, which does not have an official release window, came during a livestream about a new Nier Reincarnation-themed event coming to Final Fantasy 14 Online, another game that Yoshida oversees. A translation of Yoshida’s comments by Twitch streamer Audrey indicates that he wants the FF16 team to further polish the game.
During the stream, Yoshida was peppered with questions from Yosuke Saito, producer of the Nier games, who appeared to jokingly imply that Final Fantasy 16 was already done — Saito was apparently aware that Yoshida had gotten some heat from Square Enix for talking about the game’s development status in the pages of Uniqlo’s UT magazine.
While Yoshida’s comments about Final Fantasy 16‘s development status are encouraging, it still doesn’t sound like the game is pegged for release in 2022. Square Enix already has a busy year ahead of it, with Forspoken in October, and role-playing games Star Ocean: The Divine Force, The DioField Chronicle, and Valkyrie Profile series sequel Valkyrie Elysium slated for sometime in 2022.
Final Fantasy 16 was announced in September 2020 as a PlayStation 5 game. A PC version has also been announced.
Hundreds of MacBook Pro workers break through COVID barriers, battle guards
Video below has been shared. It shows hundreds of MacBook Pro employees breaking down COVID barriers meant to prevent them from entering a Chinese factory. With white protective coversalls, some of them are seen fighting off guards.
The plant, owned by Quanta Computer, is operating under strict lockdown conditions which go even further than the “closed-loop” production system used at many facilities making Apple products …
Background
While most countries accept that we will have to learn to live with COVID-19, the Chinese government believes that it is possible to completely eradicate the infection from the country. It is applying strict lockdowns when even a handful of cases are discovered within a city.
Just this week Zhengzhou, which is known as iPhone City because it houses the biggest iPhone plant anywhere in the world, was put under lockdown.
To avoid the closing of production plants, closed-loop production methods are allowed. These are where workers stay in dormitories on the premises. They cannot leave or enter the facility more than a month at a stretch. Apple was hoping that this approach could enable it to protect iPhone 14 production by recruiting workers before they are needed, but this plan has now been suspended.
Quanta has an iPhone plant in Shanghai that uses the closed loop system.
MacBook Pro workers break through COVID barriers
Taiwan’s Economic Daily reports that hundreds of MacBook Pro workers climbed over barriers intended to keep them within the plant. This happened after workers who were on breaks were refused permission to go back to their dorms to rest.
Bloomberg describes it as a major challenge to the Chinese government containment policy.
Hundreds of workers at a technology factory in China clashed with authorities and flooded past isolation barriers after weeks under lockdown, a stunning breakdown in the Communist Party’s efforts to contain Covid-19 infections.
The Shanghai factory, which is owned by Taiwan’s Quanta Computer Inc. and makes devices for Apple Inc. among others, has been operating under tight restrictions since the beginning of April. Workers were seen rushing through the barriers, and getting caught up with white-colored guards trying to prevent them from entering.
Quanta employees confirmed the clash occurred Thursday evening, while the company did not immediately provide comment. According to one worker, people worry about tightening further because of positive Covid cases. Another worker on the site said that the government plays a key role in overseeing operations at the plant.
The population of Shanghai, which has suffered some of the worst and longest lockdowns in history, is becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the policy. However it’s rare for such rebellion to be seen in a country that is known for its harsh punishments for people who resist government orders.

Further MacBook Pro delays likely
While the main concern here is of course for the workers, it’s also likely to be bad news for those waiting for MacBook Pro deliveries.
Economic Daily says that Quanta’s plant is only operating at around 30% capacity due to the disruption, and doesn’t expect to achieve better than 50% even when things calm down.
This will likely increase delays in MacBook Pro orders which have been ongoing for several months. Yesterday, Apple emailed some of its readers to inform them about delays in orders that were placed back February. A few people have received notices that the machines will not ship until July five months after they were ordered.
Any increase in this delay could mean customers having to wait half a year to receive their MacBook Pro models.
The incident will likely increase pressure on China to reconsider its COVID containment policy.

Apple’s secrecy created engineer burnout, led to a Different Together collaborative approach
Apple’s secrecy when it comes to product development is one of the defining characteristics of the company. However, a former Apple HR executive said it was a costly decision that led to engineer frustration and burnout. He argues that it ultimately stifled the company’s innovation.
Chris Deaver, who was a senior HR business partner at Apple from 2015 to 2019, says that the company tried an experiment with the development of AirPods Pro, to see whether it was possible to create a more collaborative working environment while still ensuring secrecy …
Deaver wrote in a Fast Company piece that he understood Apple’s motivation for secrecy.
Secrecy was a core value that it believed in, and which helps customers retain the surprise and delight. The kind that arrives on the day of launch when nobody (not even most employees) anticipate how insanely great new products will be.
But, he stated that he quickly saw the negative side to different silos and teams.
Hoarding critical information. Promoting personal agendas. Infighting. These escalations were common as a newly appointed HR partner. It was always about the “team not sharing .”
” issue.
He said it was so bad that engineers didn’t even know who they could and couldn’t talk to about their work.
I would hear from one person after the other, bright people asking: “How can I work like that?” If I can only share information with certain people, how do I know who and when? I don’t want to end up fired or in jail.”
The friction caused by the separate silos made it extremely stressful for people to come together. It even created enemies between members of different teams.
Teams had been innovating in different silos for many months, only to come together in the last hour of launch. This led to a series of five- and six-hour daily meetings that caused tremendous friction and burnout. People were frustrated. They wanted to leave or to “never work with that one person again.”
Deaver found that the camera teams within Apple had a different approach, creating a ‘braintrust’ which operated across silos.
We discovered “The Camera Braintrust” (as in iPhone camera, or the cameras in any hardware devices), or “CBT,” and applied these key ingredients: a weekly cross-staff transparency session, focusing on a vulnerable or open approach to sharing challenges they were facing. Each leader and team with a voice, each sharing exactly where they were in their development, and what they needed from the other teams. These cycles led to innovation, which made the camera technology the standard for collaboration.
Frustratingly, no explanation is given for why the camera teams were allowed to operate in this more open manner. It did serve as an example that Deaver and other Apple executives could point to. They also tested the AirPods Pro using the same method.
This was considered a success and an open approach to the project was adopted by other Apple product departments in an initiative called Different Together.
What emerged was a culture shift to what we called “Different Together,” the next-level notion for Apple’s future. This combination of power and history, which highlighted the importance of endless variety of voices, was combined with the ability to do it all together “Together,” is what we called “Different Together.”
Understandably, Deaver doesn’t go into details on the compromise between secrecy and collaboration, but it appears that the AirPods Pro set a precedent for at least a somewhat more open development process.
WhatsApp starts rolling out message reactions to its users
The message reactions feature announced last month by WhatsApp is now rolling out to its users. It works similarly to how Facebook’s reactions work – you long-press on a WhatsApp message and select the emoji you want to react with.
Right now, you get to choose from six emojis – shown by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in his Facebook post below – but WhatsApp has promised to add support for more emojis and skin tones in the future.
The message reactions feature is already available for some users on the latest version of WhatsApp, but it will be about a week or two before it reaches all WhatsApp users globally.
WhatsApp message reactions currently support six emojis
In addition to reacting to messages with emojis, WhatsApp users can also share larger files now since WhatsApp has increased the file transfer size from 100MB to 2GB.
Besides, WhatsApp has doubled the maximum number of participants allowed in a group chat – from 256 to 512 people. However, WhatsApp says it is “slowly rolling out the ability” to add up to 512 people to a group, so you’ll have to wait before you can add more than 256 members to a WhatsApp group.
Smartphones are cool tech gadgets, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be breathtakingly beautiful as well.
It has been quite some time since smartphones have moved beyond being geeky gadgets to becoming everyday necessities. Smartphones have become more than a tool for serious work. They are now a part of our daily lives. Along with those changes in objectives, smartphones have also changed a lot in their designs over the years. Few, however, managed to successfully strike a balance between form and function, uniformity and identity. That’s part of why the OPPO Find X5 Pro piqued our interest because of its particular attention to design, earning the top spot in our Best of MWC 2022 awards list. We give it a spin and see if its design is more than an attractive face. In a world dominated by big players like Apple and Samsung, it stands out.
Unless you’re a smartphone aficionado, smartphone designs probably won’t speak to you. Although they have shed their polycarbonate shells of the past, most smartphones today are plagued by large warts on their backs known as camera bumps. Many phone makers seem to have just given up and have, instead, decided to actually highlight those large structures in sometimes obnoxious ways. They dominate the visual center of the phone’s design, but in some cases, they look and feel almost simply slapped on rather than being an integral part of the device.
The OPPO Find X5 Pro’s design distances itself from that crowd in two notable ways. The most important is also the most obvious, the fact that it doesn’t have a camera bump in the traditional sense. Although there’s still an area for the camera hardware to be housed, it has been seamlessly integrated into the handset. Rather than a separate bump made of metal, the Find X5 Pro’s array gently rises out of the phone’s back, more like a dune on the soft sands of the desert.
Even the cameras themselves lie flush against the flat surface of that mound. It would look almost like the cover is actually the lens covers if it wasn’t for the black rings. It creates visual continuity which is often assumed to be a standard in design, particularly in smartphones. It is impossible to draw attention to the phone, so it creates a pleasing aesthetic where the eye flows over the back of the phone.
The OPPO Find X5 Pro also stands out as one of the very few to use ceramic in a regular, mass-produced edition of a phone, though it is only used on this “Pro” variant. Most manufacturers use ceramic only on limited editions. This is because it’s difficult to work with. It is difficult to form ceramic into precise forms like this one. This is why OPPO is able make the phone more affordable.
The “futuristic fluid” design of ceramic makes it a more attractive choice than traditional glass. Ceramic is warmer than cold glass and also retains heat more efficiently. Ceramic is also more stable than matte glass and will not slip out of your hands as easily. It has almost the perfect texture to complement the Find X5 Pro’s smooth form, generating a sense of calmness when holding and looking at the phone. Overall, the OPPO Find X5 Pro’s design feels more “human” than any other phone out there, offering a product that almost stands out like an oasis amidst the chaotic world we live in today.
Ergonomics
As a tool, it’s not enough for the OPPO Find X5 Pro to be good to look at. It also needs to be good to hold and use, especially for something that stays in the hand most of the time. Fortunately, the phone does meet ergonomic standards, though probably less perfectly than its visual design. It’s comfortable to hold and settles into your hand securely, but it could prove to be a bit tiring after long periods of use.
The ceramic back is smooth but not slippery, especially compared to AG frosted or matte glass. There’s almost a slight stickiness to it even, though not exactly in a gross kind of way. Along with its natural warmth, the material makes the Find X5 Pro a joy to hold. And depending on how you hold the phone, you might even find yourself unconsciously brushing your index finger against the soft curves of the camera bump, almost like a fidget toy.
The phone, however, is also slightly heavier than most of its peers. The phone is not heavy, but it’s still comfortable to hold. It might not matter much, but if you’re the type who tends to hold your phone for long periods of time, you might find your hand, wrist, or arm tiring more easily with the phone.
Unfortunately, the Find X5 Pro can’t escape being a fingerprint magnet, especially with the black finish where smudges are more visible. It takes a simple wipe to banish those marks, though, but sticklers for tidiness might want to grab the white one instead. Fortunately, that doesn’t get easily smudged and embodies the purity and serenity of the phone’s design even better.
Performance
We’re not going to bog you down with specs and numbers, mostly because the OPPO Find X5 Pro is a powerful machine that can stand head-to-head with the best that the smartphone market has to offer this year so far. It comes with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and up to 12GB of RAM, but there’s no support for storage expansion, so you’ll have to make an upfront choice of what configuration you need when you buy it. There are a few standout details worth mentioning, though, that really make the phone shine.
The 6. 7-inch 2K screen, for example, is bright and vibrant even under the sun. It boasts 1 billion colors, which will really make your photos pop, which goes perfectly well with its cameras. Designers and artists will appreciate how accurate the colors are, which is critical when trying to take photos and videos for reference.
In terms of specs, the Find X5 Pro’s crowning glory is really its camera system. On paper, the 50MP main camera might not sound like much, even if it has optical image stabilization. The company’s MariSilicon X chips, designed by the company, make the cameras look amazing. They are, fortunately.
Photos come out crisp and detailed, no matter the lighting condition. Night Mode uses special techniques to enhance the scenes, however, night photos look great regardless of lighting conditions. There’s no loss of detail when switching to ultra-wide because it has a similar 50MP sensor as the main camera. The 13MP telephoto camera, unfortunately, tells a slightly different story. With only 2x optical zoom, you might actually feel it’s not worth the loss in quality and stick to the main camera anyway.
In terms of software, the OPPO Find X5 Pro already runs the latest Android 12 with the company’s ColorOS 12. 1 on top. The experience is as similar to vanilla Android, with some extras. Of course, there are also some major features you won’t find in Google’s version of Android, mostly around themes and customization. You will also find your pre-installed applications, which you can uninstall if desired. The one that stands out is the O Relax app. It blends in well with the theme of the entire phone. The new O Relax app uses a variety of sounds, including those associated with bustling cities, to create a relaxing audio space. Together with its design and ceramic material, this makes the OPPO Find X5 Pro one of the most calming phones on the market.
Sustainability
The Find X5 Pro scores high on most of our marks, but this is one area where the phone is sadly just like any other. Although the smartphone market is slowly taking steps towards more sustainable practices and materials, the Find X5 Pro doesn’t exhibit those efforts just yet. Just like many phones before it, it is a beautiful and high-performance phone that wasn’t designed to be easily repaired and recycled.
Admittedly, ceramic is a more sustainable material compared to plastic, but its costs will mean that repairs and replacements will be much higher as well. The phone is also sealed shut, making repairs more difficult. OPPO, of course, has its authorized service centers, but there is also a new trend these days where the likes of Apple, Google, and Samsung are opening their doors to third-party service providers. Other companies have yet to catch up to these, especially smaller brands that might not have the margins to afford that kind of business strategy.
To its credit, OPPO tries in its own small ways to at least prolong the life of its phones and delay their inevitable fate in garbage dumps. In particular, its battery health engine tries to preserve lithium-ion batteries for as long as it can, even going as far as “healing” them over time. Although it is not the best solution, this is a good step.
Value
As a high-end phone, the OPPO Find X Pro is nearly perfect. The powerful hardware cuts through daily tasks with ease. Its cameras are among some of the best we’ve seen in the market, proving the wisdom of the company’s investments in its own imaging processor. Although it has useful and quick software, we would be happy to skip most of its bloatware.
In terms of product design, the phone scores even higher. The phone’s fluid and seamless design stands out against the current market trends. OPPO chose ceramic as its main design theme and introduced the O Relax app to help you find calm amid chaos. As with its design, the Find X5 Pro looks and feels like a more holistic product than yet another phone with a laundry list of must-have features.
The one catch to its overall value is its availability. At $1,300, it is on the more expensive end of the price range, but the real problem will be availability. OPPO’s phones aren’t present in all markets, and the Find X5 Pro is even less so. It’s almost an incredible deal for anyone who is able to purchase one.
Verdict
Almost all smartphones, especially those from Samsung and Apple, talk heavily about the design process that goes into making their latest models. Few can actually claim to deliver something that will tickle the aesthetic taste buds of those with design inclinations. Although it’s not completely new, the design language that OPPO perfected in the Find X5 Pro this year definitely stands a chance in that area. It has won many awards, in fact, including our Best of MWC 2022.
It isn’t just a pretty face, though. Unlike most of its peers and rivals, the OPPO Find X5 Pro actually has a story to tell and a message to get across. The seamless design of the Find X, as well as its selections in materials and software, all points to one theme that places design thinking and attention on a pedestal. In effect, the Find X5 Pro has graduated from being just another premium phone or even just a product. It has become a lifestyle choice.
New iQOO Z5 with a 6,000 mAh battery and 44W fast charging coming soon
The iQOO Z5 arrived back in September 2021, followed by a Z5x a month later. Both devices are available only in China, and while the global market welcomed the iQOO Z6 series, a new Z5-named phone by the vivo brand is heading to the domestic scene.
The information comes from Digital Chat Station, who posted on Weibo that the new iQOO Z5 will have a 6,000 mAh battery with 44W fast-charging capabilities.
iQOO Z5
The source also claimed the chipset of this new mysterious phone will be competitive to the Dimensity 8000. There aren’t many mid-range platforms that can match the octa-core CPU of the Mediatek SoC with four cores at 2. 75 GHz, so we’re expecting the Snapdragon 778G from the original iQOO Z5 to stay.
In other specs, the phone will also have a 6. 58″ LCD and a thick 9. 21 mm body. We are on the lookout for more leaks and teasers for features because apparently, the new iQOO Z5 is just around the corner.
