‘Carpool Karaoke: The Series’ season 5 coming this month to Apple TV+ [Video]

‘Carpool Karaoke: The Series’ season 5 coming this month to Apple TV+ [Video]

Apple renewed last year “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” for a fifth series. The show was created before Apple even launched Apple TV+, so it was distributed through Apple Music. The fifth season will be available on Apple TV+.

Carpool Karaoke was originally created as a segment of The Late Late Show with James Corden. He invites celebrities to join him in driving a car while the comedian sings. In 2016, Apple and CBS reached an agreement to license Carpool Karaoke for a new Apple Music show. “Carpool Karaoke: The Series”, despite being very similar in content, doesn’t have a regular host.

Now it’s time for Apple’s Carpool Karaoke to return for its fifth season with new artists. In a trailer shared by the company, we get to see the cast of The White Lotus, Saweetie & Anitta, The D’Amelio Family, Joanthan Scott & Zooey Deschanel, and the stars of All Elite Wrestling as some of the guests.

While James Corden isn’t the host of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series”, he’s an executive producer of all episodes.

The stars sharing a car, singing along to their personal playlists, and embarking on adventures this season include Simu Liu & Jessica Henwick; “White Lotus” costars Murray Bartlett, Alexandra Daddario & Sydney Sweeney; Anitta & Saweetie; Zooey Deschanel & Jonathan Scott, who first met on “Carpool Karaoke;” Britt Baker, Christian Cage, Bryan Danielson, MJF, Will Hobbs, CM Punk and Ruby Soho of All Elite Wrestling; and Charli, Dixie, Heidi and Marc D’Amelio. Additional episodes will debut later this year.

While “Carpool Karaoke Series” is already on Apple TV, this promotion by Apple for Apple TV+ marks the exclusive launch of the series. It will no longer be free.

“Carpool Karaoke: The Series” season 5 premieres on May 27. You can watch the trailer for the new season below or on YouTube:

The Sonos Ray is one affordable yet powerful soundbar for your TV

The Sonos Ray is one affordable yet powerful soundbar for your TV

Sonos has always been a known maker of premium quality audio devices. However, they are never that affordable as prices are always in the higher range.

It was not obvious to many that the company raised the price of its products in the last year. That is understandable because the consumer market is still struggling. Items under $200 are not that cheap but somewhat affordable for most people.

Designer: Sonos

The latest product from Sonos, the Ray Speaker, can be had for $279. That’s already a reasonable price, but it has yet to be available in the market this coming June 7. Sonos Ray Soundbar provides a better audio experience than the standard built-in TV speakers. In addition, it can be wireless with WiFi connectivity which means you can stream your favorite songs or podcast episodes from different streaming media apps.

The multi-room playback capabilities of the Sonos Ray allow it to be used with other Sonos speaker. This setup can provide a better surround sound experience and may even be more effective. The soundbar also works with Spotify Connect and AirPlay 2, and many other related apps. It’s wireless, but you can use it with a cable.

The Sonos Ray soundbar lets you upgrade your music, TV, and gaming experiences with more solid bass and crisper dialogue. You can expect a better sound quality and greater flexibility, particularly if you are looking for surround or multiroom sound systems.

Sonos claims that this standalone soundbar will blow your mind. The soundbar is designed to produce a stronger and more clearer sound. It’s stereo sound only, but the custom acoustics allow high and mid-range frequencies to harmonize. A proprietary anti-distortion technology produces perfectly weighted bass.

The soundbar allows you to listen to surround audio from your television. It makes you feel like you’re in the center of a scene with the sounds and dialogue going around you. The audio is enhanced by split waveguides and advanced processing that project sound from one wall to the next.

The Sonos Ray Soundbar is sleek and slim, so it can be hidden if you don’t want to see any clutter. Not that it’s an eyesore, but you can keep things neat and clean, especially with electronics that tend to look cluttered with the wires. This thing works with a compatible app and can efficiently work with most TVs and PCs when you want to elevate your gaming experience.

How can Sonos keep the price down if the features are almost premium? Well, it offers less audio bandwidth because it uses optical audio instead of HDMI. These are available in Sonos Arc or Sonos Beam, which is why they’re more costly. It only features Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround, and Stereo PCM. They are already good enough but not Dolby Atmos level. You can’t talk to Alexa or Google because there isn’t a microphone.

Apple begins testing iPhones with USB-C

Apple begins testing iPhones with USB-C

A few days ago, popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple will adopt USB-C on iPhones in 2023, and now Bloomberg reports the Cupertino-based tech giant has already started testing iPhones with the USB-C port. Although this year’s iPhones will retain the Lightning connector.

Additionally, the publication claims that Apple is also working on an adapter that would let future iPhones sporting USB-C work with the accessories designed for the current Lightning connector, but it’s unclear if Apple will include that with the retail package or sell it separately. Given Apple’s reputation, though, chances are customers will have to shell out extra money for the adapter.

One of the reasons for this shift from Lightning connector to USB-C could be the European Union’s push for USB-C-equipped devices, which shouldn’t be an issue for Android device makers since most of the Android-running smartphones/tablets launched in the last few years came with the USB-C port.

However, Apple is concerned that the European law “mandating just one type of connector for all devices on the market will harm European consumers by slowing down the introduction of beneficial innovations in charging standards, including those related to safety and energy efficiency. “

The EU denies that the move to USB/C is hindering innovation. It stated that the proposal states that “if there’s a better standard than USB-C we will adapt it.” “

Regardless of the European law that stifles innovation it is clear that iPhone users would be able to benefit from a switch from Lightning to USB-C for faster data transfer and charging.

Apple @ Work: Apple is building a feature to install non-App Store apps on macOS; here’s what it shows about Apple’s intentions with Apple Business Essentials

Apple @ Work: Apple is building a feature to install non-App Store apps on macOS; here’s what it shows about Apple’s intentions with Apple Business Essentials

Apple @ Work is brought to you by Mosyle, the only Apple Unified Platform. Mosyle is the only solution that fully integrates 5 different applications on a single Apple-only platform, allowing Businesses and Schools to easily and automatically deploy, manage & protect all their Apple devices . Over 32,000 organizations leverage Mosyle solutions to automate the deployment, management and security of millions of Apple devices daily. Request a FREE account today and discover how you can put your Apple fleet on auto-pilot at a price point that is hard to believe.

When Apple Business Essentials was released to public, I was curious if there was anything new in comparison with the beta. Apple has added the ability to download apps from their website, and not the Mac App Store. Apple stated that this feature was an important addition to beta and will be available later in the summer.

About Apple @ Work: Bradley Chambers managed an enterprise IT network from 2009 to 2021. Through his experience deploying and managing firewalls, switches, a mobile device management system, enterprise-grade Wi-Fi, 100s of Macs, and 100s of iPads, Bradley will highlight ways in which Apple IT managers deploy Apple devices, build networks to support them, train users, stories from the trenches of IT management, and ways Apple could improve its products for IT departments.

When it comes to iPad and iPhone management, app installation is tied to the App Store. Although you have the ability to install customized apps, there is no way for iOS users to sideload apps. Apple administrators are increasingly using Mac device management to install applications that are not in the Mac App Store. Let’s be frank, most of your critical applications on macOS are not in the Mac App Store. Even when there is a version in the Mac App Store, many admins would prefer to use the direct version from the manufacturer for faster updates and more control. Apps like Zoom, Microsoft Office, Slack, Adobe Creative Cloud, and others are common applications that enterprise Apple users have that IT needs to install, update, and manage.

Many MDM providers now offer non-AppStore app management for macOS. However, it was absent from Apple Business Essentials’ MDM. Built on top of FleetSmith, Apple Business Essentials can easily manage up to 500 devices. FleetSmith was known for this feature (even though it was removed when Apple acquired it), so it was strange that it was missing from ABE in the beta period. Customers asked, and Apple has agreed that it’s an important feature. It’s coming to Apple Business Essentials later this summer.

What’s the significance of Apple endorsing non-App Store apps?

Apple is against sideloading on iOS and seems to be in continuous court battles with various countries regarding it. Non-App Store Apps were the only method to download apps on the Mac for many decades. Customers need this feature, as many apps cannot work with App Store Sandbox rules.

Apple building a first-party way for small businesses to install critical applications is essential to the main enemy: unmanaged Macs at work. This is the main takeaway from Apple’s non-App Store first-party installation solution. Apple wants to give more reasons for Macs to be managed at work. The more functionality is built into Apple Business Essentials, the more small businesses they can convince to onboard their entire fleet (even if it is only a few Macs). Other MDM vendors such as Kandji and Mosyle can benefit from this intention. Like I said, the competitor for Apple is unmanaged Macs in the workplace

Motorola Razr to feature two bigger screens

Motorola Razr to feature two bigger screens

Motorola’s upcoming Razr 3 foldable phone has been a subject of leaks in the last couple of months and aside from the new hardware, the handset is supposed to offer an overhauled design as well. The same clam shell form factor is expected, though.

Motorola Razr to feature two bigger screens

According to Ross Young, the device will have a big screen cover – around the 3.0″ mark, which is a decent upgrade over the 2. 7″ screen found on the Razr 5G. Additionally, the primary, foldable display will grow to 6. 7″ from 6. 2″ and will be manufactured by China Star.

Unlike its predecessor, the Razr 3 will be running more powerful hardware suitable for a proper flagship phone. At least according to a report from January citing Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and a 120Hz panel.

Google Pixel Watch is reportedly using an Exynos chip from 2018

Google Pixel Watch is reportedly using an Exynos chip from 2018

During its Google I/O conference this year, the company officially confirmed that it’s working on a smartwatch and will be released within a couple of months. However, the tech giant wasn’t very vocal about details, so we are left with a lot of questions.

Google Pixel Watch is raeportedly using an Exynos chip from 2018

Luckily, 9to5Google‘s sources learned that the watch will be running on the Exynos 9110 SoC. For context, this is a 2018 chipset based on a 10nm manufacturing process with two Cortex-A53 cores. A more recent alternative would be the Exynos W920 platform powering the Galaxy Watch4 series. It makes use of a much more efficient 5nm node and has considerably more powerful Cortex-A55 cores.

So why is Google betting on older hardware for its 2022 product? Well, according to the sources, the search giant has been working on the Pixel Watch for a couple of years now and all of the development is based on the older chip. Switching over to the newer platform will delay the watch even further.

Additionally, Samsung may not be selling its W920 SoC to third parties just yet and it’s unclear when Google will be able to get its hands on the said chip.

Samsung Galaxy M22 receives Android 12 update with One UI 4.1

Samsung Galaxy M22 receives Android 12 update with One UI 4.1

As we’ve said multiple times, Samsung has gotten really good at issuing timely updates to big new Android versions for its devices, but it’s not all roses – due to the sheer number of phones it launches each year, the process inevitably takes many, many months.

Cue the fact that the Galaxy M22 launched in October of 2021 (when Android 12 was already official), is only now getting to the front of the line and finally receiving its taste of Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top. So at least it’s getting the latest iteration of Samsung’s skin. It also gets the April 2022 security patch, which isn’t current anymore, but for such a low-end device we’ll excuse it.

Samsung Galaxy M22 receives Android 12 update with One UI 4.1

Speaking of low-end, because of its affordable innards, the Galaxy M22 runs the Core version of One UI, which means some of the features available in higher-end devices won’t be available here. It’s been the same since it launched, we’re just reminding you of this fact.

The update to Android 12 comes with the build number M225FVXXU4BFD8 in both Saudi Arabia and UAE, which so far are the only two countries where it’s rolling out. Hopefully the new software will spread further soon.

Nokia X20 gets its first Android 13 Developer Preview

Nokia X20 gets its first Android 13 Developer Preview

Earlier this week during its I/O developer conference, Google released the second beta of Android 13 to its Pixels. At the same time, a bunch of other Android device makers also launched their respective Android 13 beta or developer preview programs. While the announcement included the mention of Nokia, at that time its developer website hadn’t been updated so we didn’t know what device from HMD Global’s stable would be the blessed one.

That all changes today, and it’s the Nokia X20 that you can now test with Android 13 on board. HMD is referring to the Nokia X001 as a development preview. This means that it’s not yet a beta. So, perhaps there are some issues with how polished this device looks.

Nokia X20 gets its first Android 13 Developer Preview

Also note that rolling back to Android 12 at any time will require wiping of all your data, so be sure to backup before you attempt trying the Android 13 DP. You should also be aware that such builds may have performance or stability problems. This is why you must backup your data before trying to use the Android 13 DP.

If you really do want to take the plunge, all you need to do is go to the My Device app on your Nokia X20, click on the Support banner at the bottom, and scroll down to Android developer preview. Then after a quick IMEI check you’re good to go. The new build will arrive as an over-the-air update within 12 hours of your enrollment.

If you can’t wait that long, you can manually try and get the build starting from 20 minutes after your enrollment process succeeded, by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. There’s a preinstalled Customer Feedback app in the Android 13 DP, through which you can report any issues you find.

If at some point you do need to rollback to Android 12, you can request that through the My Device app too.

Fortnite adds RoboCop and ED-209 to the battle royale game’s item shop

Fortnite adds RoboCop and ED-209 to the battle royale game’s item shop

RoboCop, the part-man, part-machine supercop protagonist of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 ultraviolent satire of Reagan era-corporate greed, has come to Fortnite. RoboCop’s arrival in the battle royale game also introduces another familiar element of the original film: the total degradation and humiliation of ED-209.

That’s because you can now ride on the back of a diminutive ED-209, thanks to a new emote in Fortnite. Players can also use ED-209’s severed leg as an in-game pickax. That’s called the LEG-209, which can also be equipped as a Back Bling.

RoboCop, the Christlike figure who once meted out justice by shooting a criminal in the dick but has since been softened to little more than a cool action figure, is now available as an outfit from the Fortnite Item Shop. Players can also get a bundle with the LEG-209, with which they can beat fellow players over the head to drive home themes of the dangers of corporate privatization of public services, or something.

Beyond Fortnite, RoboCop is set to return in his own video game, RoboCop: Rogue City, sometime in 2023. The creators and original writers of RoboCop, Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner, are trying to make a new film, RoboCop Returns, which has been pitched as a direct sequel to the first film and ignores the sequels’ continuity. District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp was once attached to RoboCop Returns, but the project has since been handed to a new director, Abe Forsythe.
