The LinkBuds S features an ambient mode so the wearer can hear their surroundings, and support for Sony’s high-quality LDAC Bluetooth codec. The “Link” part is that they are earbuds you can wear throughout the day to “link” your digital life with the sound of reality.

They are rated for six hours of listening time with ANC on, and can last up to 20 hours when accounting for the charging case’s battery life. They are also IPX4 rated for water resistance.

Last month, we reported that Sony was going to release a new pair of earbuds under the LinkBuds branding. These are Sony’s new open-ring earbuds. They don’t block sound from surrounding noises but deliver sound through an open diaphragm, which allows for full audio transparency. The LinkBuds S is a more conventional earbud without the LinkBuds’ open ring design.

Twitter now rolling out exclusive Spaces for Super Follows creators

Twitter now rolling out exclusive Spaces for Super Follows creators

Earlier this year, it was reported that Twitter had been working on a new way to let creators open exclusive Spaces for their “super followers.” Now the social network has confirmed that it’s rolling out the Spaces feature to Super Follows creators so that they can start a private audio chat with only paying followers.

Creators have the option to offer exclusive tweets via a monthly subscription through Super Follows. These followers can now access private Spaces which are Twitter’s audio and live streaming platforms.

It’s important to note that Spaces For Super Follows are different than Ticketed Spaces. This is a way for them to charge a set price each time if they want to allow users to access that Space. Both features are ways that Twitter has been implementing monetization to its platform beyond advertising.

At this time, Super Follows is available only to US users. Creators who want to apply for the program need to be 18 or older, have at least 10,000 followers, and have posted a minimum of 25 tweets in the past 30 days. Creators accepted into the Super Follows program can charge $2. 99, $4. 99, or $9. 99 for the monthly subscription.

Last month, the company announced other major improvements to its Spaces live audio platform, which includes a new conversation thread button and an option to share audio clips. Twitter also recently made “Circles” available to some users, which works similarly to Super Follows but is free and intended for close friends.

Absurd Apple Watch concept with folding display makes me question my sanity

Absurd Apple Watch concept with folding display makes me question my sanity

Finally, a large display for your wrist wearable.

While the world is wondering when Apple’s folding iPhone will be released, somebody made a Watch that has a foldable display. The Apple Watch Series X is a quirky smartwatch that features a bigger folding screen. This allows you to use the watch as an iPhone. Your watch is capable of making phone calls. In that the Apple Watch Series X has a front screen and an inner screen, it is a regular folding device. Given the small size of the Apple Watch, the term ‘larger’ is not something I would use.

Designed to sit on your wrist, this foldable concept turns the square-shaped WatchOS interface into a more traditional landscape one, unlocking the possibility for a lot of regular apps to make their way onto the wristwatch, including better Netflix and YouTube watching experiences.

Designer: Liquid Silicone

The Series X watch concept has a unique design with a flat-edge that we had expected Apple to debut in 2021. The screen size remains the same, although a bridge on the left edge (with Apple’s branding) hides the folding mechanism (sort of like in Samsung’s Galaxy Fold). Although you can still use your watch as is, the widescreen gives you better organization of elements, especially the fitness app.

Sure the idea for a foldable watch seems absurd at first, although if you think about it – this format isn’t new. Galaxy Z-Flip is the same, but with a square-shaped phone that can open into a vertical one. The Series X flips the template on its side.

Is it logical for Apple to create a foldable smartwatch? HELL NO! Sure, a larger display on your wrist makes things better, but the scaling of the display, in this case, isn’t absolute, i.e., the larger display still has the same height as the smaller one. It would be much easier for Apple to release a foldable device if it were to use a display that is actually folding. Take this iPhone iPad hybrid as an example. A folding MacBook would be a great idea, but I’d also love to see it in this FlexBook format.

Midnight Ghost Hunt’s first update includes a terrifying doll factory

Midnight Ghost Hunt’s first update includes a terrifying doll factory

Midnight Ghost Hunt‘s first major update includes a new map full of chaotic props: baby dolls with knives and scuttling little legs, lethal forklifts, and soda machines that chase ghost hunters around the map while ejecting soda cans like softballs. I’ve heard of an unsafe workplace before, but this is ridiculous.

Polygon was able to test the new map with Vaulted Sky Game’s developers, and it is now fully loaded with nightmares and hilarious antics.

The concept of Midnight Ghost Hunt is simple — a group of four amateur ghost hunters enter a scary location, like an abandoned pirate ship or museum. The four ghost hunters are there to capture their opponents, disguised in ridiculous props. They also use their psychic abilities to escape capture. For the first five minutes of the match, the ghosts are frail and weak, and the hunters can easily smash them and vacuum their souls up. If the clock strikes midnight and even one ghost remains, the tables turn, and the vicious, empowered ghosts become the hunters.

The newest map highlights one of the greatest strengths of the game, which is that it crosses the border between legitimate terror and camp. The constant background noise from old processing machines that are not controlled by anyone in particular is a problem. Sometimes games involve all four hunters chasing away a panicking ghost. Sometimes, ghosts will set up a jump-scare using a falling sword and an exploding gunnon. Every time I heard a cat screech or a creepy laugh, I’d duck, because it usually meant a knife-wielding baby doll would be close behind.

Image: Vaulted Sky Games/Coffee Stain Publishing

Previous maps have their own advantages — the mansion has knight armor with swords that make for a compelling hallway ambush, and the museum is full of globes that can roll away from hunters at mach speed. The props in the doll factory are better suited to frontal attacks, which gives the ghosts greater options. For instance, they can possess heavy metal gates and turn them into guillotines on unsuspecting hunters. These items are a dual-edged sword. Hunters can attack larger, heavier props with their weapons and take out the bad guys. A smaller prop may escape unharmed.

The update also improves hunters’ weapons. The shockstick, a short-range weapon that can hit a ghost rapid-fire, now comes with a makeshift stop-sign buckler. Hunters have a better chance to duel it out in the later game with this added utility, and some of the most compelling moments as a hunter come from surprising an angry revenant with a salt shotgun or melee blow. Developer Vaulted Sky Games told Polygon that with weekly patches, along with larger updates like this one, the ghost/hunter win ratio is now getting very close to a clean 50/50 split.

Midnight Ghost Hunt has earned success in streaming communities, and it looks like the developer is leaning into the game’s strengths with the latest map and update. Matches are now more exciting for both parties, with hunters having a greater chance of making a last stand at midnight, while ghosts have the ability to cause more havoc in the first minutes. The power balance is a little less lopsided. There are very few distractions worse than watching a vending machine chase you, shooting cans at your head.

How to use your iPhone to locate an unknown AirTag moving with you

How to use your iPhone to locate an unknown AirTag moving with you

AirTags can be used to track any items that have been lost or stolen. Apple has created a notification alert to address concerns about AirTag being used for criminal purposes. This alert is to discourage people from tracking you without your consent. Using Apple’s Find My network, you can detect and locate nearby unknown AirTags using your iPhone.

Detect AirTags with an iPhone

Unknown AirTag alerts come after the accessory has been separated from its owner and is seen moving with you over time. In order to receive unknown AirTag alerts, you need to turn Location Services and Bluetooth on in Settings. To do so, go to:

  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services on
  • Settings > Bluetooth or tap the Bluetooth button in the Control Panel

Tracking notifications will also need to be on in Notifications.

  • Settings > Notifications > Tracking Notifications

If you receive a notification that says “AirTag Found Moving With You,” tap the alert, then continue. A map will appear in Find My with red dots showing where the AirTag was detected.

You can tap “Play Sound” where you’ll hear a noise to help you locate the device. If you know the owner of the AirTag, you can hit “Pause Safety Alerts.”

However, if the AirTag is unknown, you can learn more and disable it so the device can no longer track you – there will be onscreen instructions to follow to help you disable the tracker. You can also see if the owner of the AirTag has been tracking your location.

Android users can receive unknown AirTag alerts, too

Additionally, those with Android devices can download the Tracker Detect app to receive unknown AirTag alerts. It scans for Bluetooth trackers that may be compatible with Find My and not their owners. To find out if someone is following you, scan your smartphone. If the app detects an unknown AirTag near you for at least 10 minutes, you can play a sound to help you find it.

  • iOS 15. 4 beta 4 adds anti-stalking alerts to AirTag and other Find My accessories

First watchOS 8. 7 and tvOS 15. 6 betas join HomePod pre-release software

First watchOS 8. 7 and tvOS 15. 6 betas join HomePod pre-release software

With just a few weeks to go until WWDC 2022, Apple has just released iOS 15. 6 beta 1 to developers. In addition, the company has also made available the first betas of tvOS 15. 6, watchOS 8. 7, and HomePod Software 15.6.

Earlier this week, Apple had released tvOS 15. 5, watchOS 8. 6, and HomePod Software 15. 5 to the public. The updates did not make any changes to the operating system.

When it comes to watchOS 8. 6, the update released earlier this week for users has enabled ECG and irregular rhythm notifications in Mexico.

It’s unclear whether today’s updates come with new features, or whether Apple is just fixing a few more bugs before the official announcement of iOS 16 and other new software at WWDC in June. Notably, betas today are not available for public users. Developers will need to wait longer before they can be released to the general public.

According to recent rumors, the next major watchOS update is expected to bring some big changes, including redesigned watch faces and a new low-power mode.

Let us know if you notice any new features in today’s Apple betas. Stay tuned for our full hands-on coverage with the new releases right here at 9to5Mac if we find anything new.

Apple releases first macOS 12. 5 and macOS 11.6. 7 betas ahead of WWDC

Apple releases first macOS 12. 5 and macOS 11.6. 7 betas ahead of WWDC

Following the public release of macOS 12. 4 with support for the first Studio Display webcam fix and over 50 security updates, Apple has released the first macOS 12. 5 beta with WWDC just a few weeks away.

macOS 12. 5 beta 1 is now available via OTA for developers already enrolled in the beta as well as being available soon from Apple’s Developer website. Today’s beta comes with build number 21G5027d.

We’ll be keeping an eye out to see if any notable new features arrive with the latest release.

Unless we see an overlap between the macOS 12. 5 and first macOS 13 beta, it could be a short testing period with WWDC 2022 kicking off in less than three weeks on June 6.

The first macOS 12. 5 beta comes after macOS 12. 4 arrived with the Studio Display webcam fix, new features for the Podcasts app, and over 50 security fixes.

  • Apple releases macOS 12. 4 with new Podcasts features and separate Studio Display webcam fix
  • Apple patches dozens of security flaws with iOS 15. 5, over 50 fixes for macOS 12. 4

Apple has also launched the first beta for macOS 11.6.7.

Roller Champions, Ubisoft’s roller derby game, to be released May 25

Roller Champions, Ubisoft’s roller derby game, to be released May 25

Roller Champions, a free-to-play PvP derby game, was first revealed at E3 2019 by Ubisoft, and now we know when the game will arrive. Roller Champions is set to launch on May 25 on PC, PlayStation 4 and PS5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and Amazon Luna at a later date.

The rules of Roller Champions are simple: two groups of three players race around a track, competing to keep possession of a ball. If a team holds the ball while racing, they will score more points when the ball is finally tossed through the scoring hoop. If the other team grabs the ball, the players lose the tasty points. Movement is very important; players need to keep themselves safe if they have the ball, or deck their opponents to get an advantage. The arena also looks larger than life, with massive scalable walls, bright lights, and Tron-like streams of light following each competitor.

Players can progress from a rookie in derby to becoming a star by unlocking new leagues or stadiums. Players can create intimidating and adorable avatars by customizing their champions as they unlock new items. Rocket Champions is completely free to play, however exclusive cosmetic rewards can be purchased with a Roller Pass that will expire on a specific schedule.
