iQOO Z5 (V2188A) shows up on TENAA – a different Z5 for China

iQOO Z5 (V2188A) shows up on TENAA – a different Z5 for China

An unannounced iQOO model named V 2188A briefly appeared on China’s TENAA site. It has apparently been taken down.

We were able to get a good look and saw the specs – the V2188A has a 5,880mAh battery, which is close enough to call 6,000mAh, 44W charging, a 6. 58-inch display, and the dimensions of 163. 87 x 75. 33 x 9. 21mm with a weight of 203g.

This is likely the iQOO Z5 with a 6,000mAh battery that’s reportedly coming to China.

What’s weird is that China already has a vivo an iQOO Z5 on sale but that phone has a 5,000mAh battery with 44W charging and a 6. 67-inch IPS LCD of 120Hz refresh rate. It also relies on a Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset.

Meanwhile, this rumored, TENAA-related iQOO Z5 has a 6. 58-inch 120Hz display and could launch with a different chipset, possibly a Dimensity 1300.

A Day in the Life of a Galaxy S22 User

A Day in the Life of a Galaxy S22 User – Samsung Global Newsroom

The recently-launched Galaxy S22 series has received rave reviews from Galaxy fans for its cutting-edge features that have set the standard for phones when it comes to getting work done.

From the moment you wake up to the moment you clock out, how can you use the Galaxy S22 series to make the most of your workday? With convenient features such as digital car keys, enhanced notetaking and more, check out the user guide below to follow a productive day in the life of a Galaxy user.

[7:00 a.m.] Dress To Impress With Sleek and Durable Technology

Apart from when we’re asleep, our smartphones rarely leave our hands throughout the day. Smartphones are, decidedly, a fashion statement for our daily life. The Galaxy S22+ features rounded edges and a sleek, Contour-Cut design that seamlessly blends the body, frame and rear camera. The Galaxy S22+ is available in various colors, including Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green and Pink Gold. The device is the perfect go-to accessory for stylish consumers who want a refined look.

Adding to its sophisticated design, the S22 is also very durable — a big plus if you often drop your smartphone. For the first time in the Galaxy S22 series, each phone is surrounded by a polished, protective Armor Aluminum frame. The S22 is also the first Samsung smartphone fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back panels, providing even more durability, scratch resistance and protection.

[8:00 a.m.] Lighten Your Commute With a Digital Car Key

Users can now lighten their pockets with the digital key feature from Galaxy S22 Ultra’s Samsung Pass, which lets you unlock your car with your smartphone. Now, you can simplify your morning routine and ensure that you never forget your car keys at home again.

[10:00 a.m.] Take and Share Notes in an Instant With the S Pen

When you’re taking part in a productive morning meeting, it can often be fast-paced. Rather than panic, you can easily jot down notes and keep up with the conversation using your S Pen. The Galaxy S22 Ultra supports a built-in stylus, which provides a notetaking experience that is as easy and convenient as writing on a page. Even when the smartphone screen is locked, you can simply take out the S Pen to open Screen Off Memo.

Even if your morning meeting is running over, there’s still plenty of space on your device to take notes. When you tap on the arrow button in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, the memo smoothly turns to the next page as if you’re turning the page of a book. Once you’re finished, simply save the entire note in the Samsung Notes application. The app also allows for easy, instant sharing with coworkers who could not attend the meeting.

With the S Pen and the Samsung Notes application in hand, you can rest easy knowing that you can annotate any document, even if you don’t have a hard copy. By opening up a file in the Samsung Notes application in advance, you can still take notes while still staying present and making sure your voice is heard.

[12:30 p.m.] Capture Mouthwatering Photos of Your Lunch

Lunch break is an employee’s time to recharge, so enjoy your break by ditching your desk and visiting well-known restaurants and coffee shops. Thanks to the enhanced camera AI technology of the Galaxy S22 series, you can capture every moment during your off time more clearly. Using just your S22 device, you can snap pictures that will leave all your friends and followers hungry.

[2:00 pm] Pick and Choose What Inspires You With Smart Select

While browsing the internet, one often comes across the perfect piece of content to inspire one’s work. Using the S Pen, you can easily select, clip and grab whatever piques your interest, whether it’s a photo or a quote. The Smart Select feature allows you to draw a shape anywhere on the screen, and your phone will capture only that defined selection. You can save your screenshot as an image or paste it right away on the Samsung Notes application. Whatever the size or shape of the content, you can position it perfectly on a page in your notes, even if it’s already filled with text.

[3:00 p.m.] Work in Any Lighting With Screens That Adjust to You

Whether you’re working indoors or outdoors, you can make sure your screen is always easy to read with the Galaxy S22 series’ Adaptive Brightness feature. As soon as your device turns on, your screen automatically adjusts to match the lighting of a room. You can enjoy a clear, bright screen anywhere with no need for adjustment, no matter if you’re reading documents in a dimly lit conference room or checking your email in direct sunlight.

[5:30 p.m.] Turn Your Smartphone Into a Pocket Scanner for Easy Sharing

When we receive urgent requests for documents, it’s often easier to snap a picture instead of going through the hassle of using a scanner. But when you’re trying to take that perfect shot of the paper on your desk, it can be tricky to avoid casting a shadow on the document, no matter how you position your smartphone. The Object eraser in the Galaxy S22 series is there to help you out.

The Object eraser not only erases objects in the background, but it can also erase the shadow cast on the subject. Without using a separate editing program, the AI automatically analyzes the photo to detect and remove unnecessary items. Even an unwanted glare or reflection can be edited out with just a tap of the Erase reflections button.

[7:00 pm] Capture Picture-Perfect Photos on Your Way Home With Nightography

The Galaxy S22 series is most known for its impressive camera quality. With a larger image sensor than ever before, the camera captures images in bright, detailed colors, even after sunset. The advanced AI technology and the Super Clear Lens help you take natural and smooth-looking photos at night without any camera glare or reflections. If you’re in the mood to appreciate the scenery on your way home from work, the improved Galaxy S22 camera will help you own the night, even in the dark.

For users who want total control over their photos, the improved S22 camera also comes equipped with features that any aspiring photographer can enjoy. Just like professional cameras, S22 users can adjust the ISO, shutter speed, white balance and more in the Expert RAW application. Users can make adjustments according to each lens type, from Ultra Wide to Super Telephoto, all in a single application. The app allows users to save files in both JPG and DNG formats, enabling users to edit high-quality photos down to the smallest detail.

How Minted and The Frame Make Artwork More Accessible to All

How Minted and The Frame Make Artwork More Accessible to All – Samsung Global Newsroom

Since the launch of The Frame in 2017, Samsung Electronics has strived to make artwork more attainable for all. The Frame Art Store allows for extraordinary, one-of-a-kind art selections to be accessible to consumers from the comfort of their own homes. Iconic institutions, art collectives and independent artists alike have all contributed to the Art Store’s ever-expanding selection, allowing users to enjoy more than 1,600 works of art suited to their unique styles and tastes.

With the Art Store growing in popularity, rising artists have an opportunity to showcase their work before millions of design enthusiasts worldwide. In particular, the Minted X Samsung The Frame partnership has allowed independent artists from more than 100 countries to have their work displayed alongside iconic works from renowned artists and institutions.

Samsung Newsroom sat down to talk with Mariam Naficy (Founder, Co-CEO, Chairman, Minted) about The Frame and how it empowers artists.

Q: Can you tell us more about how technology enables you to carry out your mission to help new artists and make art more accessible?

It can be difficult for artists new to the art industry to get noticed. Our mission has always been to showcase the best in independent design to consumers everywhere, regardless of an artist’s background.

For instance, Minted holds open art and design challenges that allow anyone in the world to submit their art or design. Minted’s algorithms analyze millions of votes from users to choose the best submissions. The crowdsourcing process promotes inclusion while also bringing new and trending designs to the market. We are pleased to have created a platform for independent artists, The Frame and The Art Store to showcase their works digitally in millions homes.

^ Mariam Naficy, Founder, co-CEO and Chairman of Minted

Q: What made you decide to collaborate with the Art Store?

The Art Store is a part of Minted’s mission to help consumers find and support artists. Samsung has curated incredible art, including works from prestigious museums around the world. We’re honored to see art from Minted artists in the same digital gallery as the classic or traditional masterpieces. By bringing the art of up-and-coming and emerging artists into peoples’ homes, Samsung is fostering inclusivity and accessibility, which are two values that are important to Minted.

Q: Can you share with us an artist success story that was made possible with Minted?

All the artists who have been featured in the Art Store have such diverse backgrounds, career paths and personal stories. For example, Bethania Lima, a Brazilian surface designer living in Uruguay, has grown her business through Minted — and has had the opportunity to bring her work into even more homes worldwide through our partnership with the Art Store.

Q: What are some advantages of displaying art on The Frame vs more typical ways of accessing art such as visiting art galleries or exhibitions?

Many homes have a television in the living room. Bringing art into the home can be a great way to show your appreciation for design and share it with family and friends. Displaying unique art on The Frame turns an everyday living space into your own dynamic gallery that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your home with the people you love.

The Art Store has seen a steady increase in its audience, which has resulted in greater earnings and more success for the featured artists. We also love the curated, thematic lists that help people discover art in the Art Store.

Q: How has your own work evolved since you first partnered with Samsung?

Minted’s ongoing design competitions ensure that we always have the latest in art and design, and we’re very excited to have refreshed the Minted Art collection for the Art Store this year. It’s the first major refresh of our assortment since we launched, which is very exciting. The new collection includes a variety of artists as well as new trends in art.

Q: What pieces would you recommend for users to enjoy through The Frame’s Art Mode?

Fernanda Martinez’s Colorful Abstract — “Everything Changes”

  • Fernanda Martinez is an Oakland, California-based artist and founder of La Tinta Art. She explores the subject’s relation with the environment through her abstract paintings and murals incorporating natural elements as themes. With an experimental and intuitive approach to her work, her pieces are unique statements that represent feelings of connection, expansion and growth. In particular, Martinez’s artwork “Everything Changes” was inspired by a sunny day in the city. Combining the yellows and browns from city buildings with vibrant golds, oranges and blues creates a unique and modern composition.

Brandy Brown’s Figurative Art — “Festooned”

  • Brandy Brown is the creative director of Marabou Design. As a wife and mother, she crafts with the idea of her modern family and their extraordinary friends in mind. She is a graphic artist by training and believes in the importance of clean design and function. Much like her personality, her aesthetic is described as both playful and smart. In her piece “Festooned”, Brown wanted to depict the serenity of a BIPOC1 woman holding a lush arrangement of florals. Brown wanted to show the diversity of femininity in digital art, just as flowers can come in many colors and varieties.

Raven Erebus’ Liner Abstract — “A Long Ray Around”

  • Raven Erebus is a Silicon Valley-based artist who worked as a software engineer before turning to art full time when her health declined. Erebus’s work discovers the magic in the everyday world around us and is often inspired by her immediate environments, as she has a chronic disability. Erebus explained that the lines in her pen-and-ink drawings like “A Long Ray Around” are interlocking and inspired by natural shapes. These lines form pathways, rays, and arches that create a minimalist look perfect for modern décor.

To see the most recent crowdsourced artwork pieces of the Minted x Samsung collaboration, visit the Art Store at The Frame.

1 BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous and people of color.

Brave web browser for iOS updated with new ‘Privacy Hub’

Brave web browser for iOS updated with new ‘Privacy Hub’

The popular privacy-focused web browser Brave released an update to its iOS app on Wednesday that brings a new “Privacy Hub” to its users. There, the app shows a summary of how visited websites collect and use personal data from the device.

The feature is part of version 1. 38 of Brave for iOS, which adds even more options for users to browse the web safely and privately.

As detailed by the company in a blog post, the new Privacy Hub alerts users about trackers, fingerprinting attempts, and other “bad stuff” hidden on websites. For example, it shows if a blocked tracker is known to collect data such as email and location for advertising purposes.

Privacy Hub helps educate you about trackers and other privacy threats. It highlights risky pages and trackers, and ties those trackers to the tech companies and publishers behind them. It shows just how often sites try to invade your privacy.

But this is only one feature that was added to today’s web browser update. The iOS app now has fingerprint protection that makes it harder for hackers to track users online. Brave adds “small amounts of randomization to fingerprintable APIs” to trick websites without breaking them.

The iOS app also features the Certificate Viewer, a feature which was previously available in the web browser’s desktop version. The Certificate Viewer allows users to check whether or not a website’s certificate has expired. It also provides advanced information.

Brave Browser for iOS is available for free on the App Store. There are also versions for macOS, Windows, Android, and Linux – and you can find them on Brave’s website.

New Realme Pad allegedly on the way with Snapdragon 870 and 120 Hz screen

New Realme Pad allegedly on the way with Snapdragon 870 and 120 Hz screen

According to Chinese rumors, Realme has been busy developing yet another tablet. This follows the Realme Pad Mini and Realme Pad Mini. This new slate will allegedly be the highest-end of the bunch, as it’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset.

Not just that, but it’s said to have a high-resolution QHD+ LCD with 120 Hz refresh rate, and an 8,360 mAh battery. Realme VP Xu Qi reportedly called the tablet the king of its price range – that’s quite the teaser, but of course he didn’t go so far as to reveal said price, instead further teasing that it’s going to be the cheapest tablet with the SD870 at the helm.

The tablet will allegedly be made official before the end of this month for the Chinese market, alongside an upcoming Naruto special edition of the GT Neo3 150W. If all of this pans out, then we’re hoping the new tablet won’t stay confined to China for long.

Apple’s privacy chief talks about backdoors in iOS, GDPR, and more in interview

Apple’s privacy chief talks about backdoors in iOS, GDPR, and more in interview

Privacy is a major concern of Apple for a long time. Every year, the company releases new methods to improve security on its products. This week, ELLE magazine published an interview with Apple’s chief privacy officer Jane Horvath, in which she talks about backdoors in iOS, GDPR, and more.

Hovarth’s career

With a degree in computer science, Hovarth began her career as a programmer for a government contractor long before joining Apple. But thanks to her ambitions, she went to law school and landed a job at AOL in 1995 as one of the youngest lawyers on the team.

After that, Hovarth specialized in privacy policy and joined the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) until 2007, when she took a job as Global Privacy Counsel at Google. There, the executive says she learned “a very good introduction to the internet world.” It wasn’t until 2011 that Horvath was hired by Apple, although that had always been her “dream job.”

The executive described Apple’s business model differently from those of other tech companies. She met with a colleague to talk about the types of data that engineers could collect. They told her that they were able to identify people using data that they had collected. But they did not want to.

A colleague said to me, We might be able to string this data together to all of the other data we’re collecting and somehow identify someone, and we don’t want to do that.” I thought, Wow, I have arrived at a place that really, really protects privacy.

Backdoors in iOS

Governments have asked Apple to create a backdoor into iOS.

Since the San Bernardino case in December 2015, the FBI asked Apple to develop a way to unlock iOS devices without the users’ passwords after police recovered an iPhone 5C from one of the shooters. Apple, however, has always denied the request – which led the FBI to work with another security company on a brute force unlocking method for iOS.

Apple’s privacy chief, who was part of the discussions in that case, said the company would have opened that iPhone if it wouldn’t have impacted “every other phone.” However, creating a backdoor for that one case would also open a security breach that would compromise all customers.

Horvath says Apple has resisted requests to build a version of iOS that “would’ve basically made every other phone vulnerable.”

GPDR and online privacy

In a world where everything is connected online, privacy has become more important than ever. Even though some people believe privacy doesn’t really matter, they could still be affected by ransomware and data leaks. This is why privacy and security are closely related to Horvath.

When referring to online ads, the executive raises concerns about how much data such content can collect from their users. Apple is trying to get customers to pay attention by providing options and alerts so they can make their own decisions about whether or not they want to be tracked.

Take a moment to pause whenever one of the boxes appears and learn a bit more about it. Also, go back and look at the choices you’ve made, because even I, in the heat of just wanting something, make certain choices. That, and always think before you post. It’s hard to get data back once it is out.

App Privacy Report on iOS.

Horvath compares iOS’ privacy features to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is a European Union law to ensure the protection of user data as a human right. According to the executive, Apple devices offer its users “the same rights as Europeans regardless of their location .”

.”

Wrap up

The interview also has some other details about Horvath’s career as well as some tips that she gives to help users ensure their privacy online.

You can read the full interview in the article available on ELLE.com.

Tips for enhancing the FaceTime call experience on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Tips for enhancing the FaceTime call experience on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

With last year’s iOS 15 release and macOS Monterey comes new features to help you better connect with others. Facetime is now better than ever, especially on newer Apple devices. These are the new features that you can utilize to make Facetime on your iPhone, iPad or Mac as enjoyable and productive as possible. Also, don’t forget to share some of your favorite Facetime tips with us too.

Center Stage

Center Stage came last spring, a bit before iOS 15, and has been an addition to new iPads since. Using machine learning, the front-facing Ultra Wide camera moves with you, keeping you and anyone else within the frame. Center Stage is one of my favorite Facetime tips as I often don’t stay still on video calls. This feature is currently only on select iPads, however, it can work on certain Macs connected to a Studio Display.

You can check if your iPad is compatible with Center Stage.

Voice Isolation mode

Apple gets it. We’re all busy and sometimes we can’t find a quiet place to take a call. Voice Isolation mode uses machine learning and spotlights your voice to block any background noises. For instance, if it hears a lawn mower outside or a child crying, the sounds won’t interrupt your call. This will work on any iPhone, iPad, or Mac running on iOS 15 or macOS Monterey.

Wide Spectrum mode

Wide Spectrum mode, which uses the microphone on your phone to make every sound in your call instead of Voice Isolation. Wide Spectrum mode is ideal for musicians and anyone who wishes to be able to hear all that’s happening in your area. This works on any iPhone with the A12 Bionic chip or later.

Mute alerts

Tired of hearing others talk on mute while you are calling? Mute alerts are subtle reminders to remind you to unmute yourself if you’re talking while on mute. It saves you the hassle of constantly repeating, “okay friend, you’re on mute!” Use Mute alerts on any iPhone, iPad, or Mac running on iOS 15 or macOS Monterey.

Any other Facetime tips?

Did you know about all these features? What are other Facetime tips you would include? Comment below to let us know your other Facetime tips.

Apple promoting accessibility features for iOS users that anyone can take advantage of

Apple promoting accessibility features for iOS users that anyone can take advantage of

Apple this week celebrated Global Accessibility Awareness Day by announcing new accessibility features that will be available later this year with iOS 16 and other software updates. However, while we wait for those updates, the company has been promoting accessibility tips that anyone can take advantage of.

Apple products are well-known for their accessibility features that make it easy to use by people with disabilities. This includes things like VoiceOver, AssistiveTouch, and Voice Control.

To promote accessibility features Apple launched an iOS Tips category that highlights some of the features every iPhone or iPad user can use to enhance their iPhone and iPad experience.

Make your iPhone and iPad work harder for you. Discover accessibility features to help you do more with iPhone and iPad.

Apple demonstrates how to increase the text size and play soothing background sounds. It also shows you how to magnify objects nearby using Magnifier. Sound Recognition can even help identify ambient sounds such as sirens or alarms. You can also listen to the screen and control your device with custom voice commands.

You can access all these tips by going to the Tips app on your iPhone or iPad. For those unfamiliar, the Tips app, as the name suggests, provides useful information to help users discover new features on their devices.

New accessibility features coming with iOS 16

New accessibility features for iPhone and iPad with iOS 16.

One of the new accessibility features teased by Apple this week is called “Door Detection,” and it uses the LiDAR scanner on supported iPhone and iPad models to help users understand how far away they are from a door. The device can read symbols and signs around the door.

For Apple Watch users, a new option will mirror the watch’s screen on the iPhone so that people with physical and motor disabilities can interact with features such as ECG, Blood Oxygen, and Heart Rate. Also, live captions are finally coming to FaceTime on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

You can read more about accessibility on Apple devices by checking this webpage.

Prime Minister of Vietnam meets with Tim Cook in bid to lure manufacturing business

Prime Minister of Vietnam meets with Tim Cook in bid to lure manufacturing business

Pham Minh Chinh (Vietnam’s Prime Minister) met Tim Cook at Apple Park. Chinh visited other Silicon Valley tech companies such as Intel and Google during his trip to the United States. This visit was made in the hopes of reaching out to US tech firms with the goal to bring more business to Vietnam.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister underlined cooperation in trade, investment, and finance as the driving force for a successful US-Vietnam partnership. Cook was informed by Chinh that the Vietnamese government works to establish a market environment in order to support US companies’ growth in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s interest in Apple and its products continues to increase alongside the growth of the digital economy. Chinh stated that all age groups in Vietnam use Apple products and this love will only increase with Apple’s growth.

Apple doesn’t have a plant in Vietnam. The country does, however, have 31 companies with 160,000 workers producing and assembling parts for Apple products. As Vietnam becomes more active in the global supply chain, Chinh expressed interest in Apple doing more business there. Tim Cook was also informed by him how Vietnam could be Apple’s most important market in Asia. It could expose its products to an even wider market within Vietnam, the tech giant.

Cook added that Apple is looking to extend its supply chains to Vietnam and involve more of the country’s firms. The CEO also plans to increase domestic suppliers as well as raise the production line’s use of domestic products.

The hope is the Vietnamese Government will introduce more favorable policies to encourage investments from US tech firms like Apple.
