Xiaomi 12 Pro is ‘coming soon’ to India

Xiaomi 12 Pro is ‘coming soon’ to India

The Xiaomi 12 Pro announced in China in December and launched globally last month is “coming soon” to India.

Xiaomi hasn’t announced the 12 Pro’s India launch date yet, but a picture posted by the company’s Global VP, Mr. Manu Jain, suggests the smartphone could debut in India on April 12 (calendar on the table has the date marked).

It’s unclear if the 12 Pro will be joined by the vanilla 12 and 12X or Xiaomi will skip them in India. We’ll hopefully find out in the coming days.

In the meantime, let’s take a look at the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s specs sheet. The smartphone is built around a 6. 73″ 120Hz QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display and has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC at the helm. It comes with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and runs Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box.

The rest of the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s highlights include stereo speakers, NFC, 5G connectivity, and an in-display fingerprint reader.

Nothing will make an announcement on April 1

Nothing will make an announcement on April 1

Last week, Nothing held a press event where it made a few announcements about the brand’s roadmap and teased some details about Nothing’s phone (1). Today, the company tweeted that it will be holding an announcement tomorrow, April 1.

Last week, the company announced that it was preparing its first smartphone aimed at being a “breath of fresh air to the sleepy smartphone industry”. Carl Pei, founder of Nothing, said that Nothing plans to build an open ecosystem to rival other ecosystems which lock users into their product lines.

We know that Nothing plans to use a Qualcomm chipset on the phone (1), likely the flagship one that’s available when the phone is being manufactured. Otherwise, there aren’t any actual specifications offered, but that may change tomorrow when Nothing makes its “(1) more thing” announcement.

It was confirmed that the Nothing phone (1) would be released sometime over the summer. It was also noted that three years of OS updates, plus four years of security updates are guaranteed for the phone.

The Nothing Launcher is coming next month. This will give some Android users a chance to feel the vibe that Nothing hopes to pull off on the phone (1), complete with a dot-matrix font.

April 1 is normally a date when brands and companies made light-hearted joke announcements about either non-existent products or make up ridiculous policies for fun. Maybe Nothing has plans to announce a true product on the day that is usually reserved for jokes or fake announcements.

Apple releases iOS 15.4. 1 and iPadOS 15.4. 1 to fix battery drain issues

Apple releases iOS 15.4. 1 and iPadOS 15.4. 1 to fix battery drain issues

Today, Apple releases a new set of software updates to its mobile devices. This includes iOS 15.4. 1 for all supported iPhones, as well as iPadOS 15.4. 1 for all supported tablets. As the number incrementation strongly implies, this is a minor release that doesn’t bring any new features.

It does however purport to increase battery life, which we think is extremely important. That’s because the release notes mention that upon installation of this update, your iPhone or iPad will fix the battery drain issues that were apparently introduced with the release of iOS 15. 4 a couple of weeks ago.

Additionally, you’re also getting a fix for Braille devices becoming unresponsive while navigating text or displaying an alert, and a fix for Made for iPhone hearing devices losing connection within some third party apps. There might also be other, unnamed, bug fixes and various performance improvements baked in too, but clearly the headline here is about that battery drain fix.

So if your iPhone or iPad seemed to get really hungry after the iOS or iPadOS 15. 4 update, then you might want to head on over to Settings and install iOS 15.4. 1 or iPadOS 15.4. 1 as soon as possible.

Google Pixel 6a retail box allegedly leaks showing new Pixel 6-like design

Google Pixel 6a retail box allegedly leaks showing new Pixel 6-like design

Google is widely expected to announce the Pixel 6a during its I/O conference taking place this May. The 6a will of course be the company’s next installment in its affordable smartphone line, following on from the 5a launched last year.

Today an unverified source brings us the image you can see below, which obviously claims to portray the retail box for the upcoming Google Pixel 6a. And if this is real, which is a big if, then it seems like Google is looking to unify its design language across its smartphone range, as the Pixel 6a sports a distinctly Pixel 6-like look, and doesn’t resemble the 5a and 4a in any way anymore.

We think that this is a great thing and we hope it works out. The camera ‘visor’ look on the back is still unique and helps instantly recognize a Pixel in public. Pixel A has been a decently-priced phone line that offers reasonable performance and cameras at a price point that is a bit higher than theirs. Let’s see if the 6a will keep the formula unchanged, or if it will dare to try and take things up a notch.

The image of the box shows two cameras sensors, an LED flash and a microphone hole. Not that any of this is unexpected for a budget device.

Past leaks indicated the Pixel 6a would have a 6. 2-inch OLED screen, a pair of 12 MP shooters, and a 5,000 mAh battery. It will reportedly lose the 3. 5 mm headphone jack, which would be a first for a Pixel a, but not surprising in any way.
