Realme GT 2 and GT Neo3’s India launch confirmed, world’s first flagship store opening soon

Realme GT 2 and GT Neo3’s India launch confirmed, world’s first flagship store opening soon

Realme had a big today in India as it introduced five new products in the country – Realme GT 2 Pro, Realme 9 (4G), Realme Buds Air 3, Realme Book Prime, and Realme Smart TV Stick. And towards the end of the event, Realme VP, Mr. Madhav Sheth, announced that the vanilla GT 2 will launch in India during the company’s fourth anniversary, which will be celebrated on May 4.

Mr. Sheth later took to Twitter to announce that the GT Neo3 is also coming soon to India. The company VP didn’t explicitly mention the smartphone’s name, but the post’s caption and the short video clip attached leave little to the imagination. The latter also suggests that Realme will bring the GT Neo3’s cool Le Mans version to India.

The Realme GT 2 was unveiled in February alongside the GT 2 Pro. It comes with the Snapdragon 888 SoC, 6.62″ 120Hz FullHD+ AMOLED screen, 50MP triple camera, 5,000 mAh battery, and 65W charging.

The Realme GT Neo3, unveiled last month, is powered by the Dimensity 8100 chip, features a slightly bigger 120Hz FullHD+ AMOLED panel, and sports a 50MP triple camera system on the rear. But, its biggest highlight is the 150W charging, advertised to fill the 4,500 mAh battery up to 50% in just 5 minutes. There’s also an 80W version of the phone, which packs a 5,000 mAh cell.

We know the 150W variant will launch in India, but it’s unclear if Realme will also bring the GT Neo3’s 80W version to its biggest market or skip it. We’ll hopefully find that out soon. In the meantime, you can head this way to check out the GT 2 and GT Neo3’s detailed specs.

In addition to introducing new products in India at today’s event, Realme announced that it will open the world’s first Realme flagship store in India soon. It will be located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, but the young brand didn’t reveal where exactly.

Samsung US offers up to $100 store credit with a Galaxy S22 phone

Samsung US offers up to $100 store credit with a Galaxy S22 phone

During the pre-order period Samsung US was offering $50 discounts on the regular prices of the Galaxy S22 series – those regular prices being $800 for the S22, $1,000 for the S22+ and $1,200 for the S22 Ultra (for the base memory configuration). Those prices haven’t budged since then, however, the company has offered new ways to save some money almost every week.

This week the offer is simple – you get store credit with your purchase. The Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S22+ come with $100 of Samsung Credit attached, the Galaxy S22 with $50. Note that this offer only for US customers.

Using the credit is pretty straightforward – after you pick out the phone configuration you like, you hit ‘Continue’ and you are taken to a page where you can spend your credit. Keep in mind that a lot of accessories are 20% off this week, so a $100 go further than usual.

You can keep it simple and just grab Samsung Care+ ($12/month), which covers accidental damage (drops, spills) and cheap screen repairs ($29).

Alternatively, you can pick up an extra gadget or three. For example, the Galaxy Watch4 (44 mm, Bluetooth) is 30% off right now and costs $196. The Galaxy Buds2 have their own discount and are selling for $130. A “fitness companion bundle” gets you the watch and Buds2 for $300 (a bit less than if you get them separately). This is before you apply the Credit, of course, so the Watch4 can be yours for under a hundred bucks.

One of the highest discounts is on the Galaxy Tab S7 FE – the Wi-Fi models (64, 128 and 256 GB) are 40% off, so the slate starts at $318.

Finally, don’t forget that the Enhanced Trade-in program is still active. This means you can send up to 2 old devices, including phones (in good condition or with a cracked screen), tablets and smartwatches.

Realme 9 Pro+ Free Fire Edition’s design revealed through leaked image

Realme announced the Realme 9 Pro+ in February with three color options and teased a Free Fire Limited Edition of the smartphone without getting into the details. We don’t have the Realme 9 Pro+ Free Fire Edition’s launch date yet, but a new leaked image of the smartphone’s sketch gives us a glimpse of its design.

You can see that the Realme 9 Pro+ Free Fire Edition’s rear panel has a slightly different design. The Realme branding is moved from the bottom-left to the center of the panel, which also has the Free Fire logo now.

IFA will return this September 2022 in Berlin

IFA will return this September 2022 in Berlin

Germany’s tech exhibition has made it clear that they will return to in-person events later this year. Taking place from September 2 through 6 in Berlin, IFA will be back in 2022 to showcase the latest developments in consumer electronics, home appliances, information technology, and telecommunications.

Now it is time to get real and organize another full-sized trade show on the grounds Messe Berlin. This city, which has been a capital of Europe’s biggest consumer markets, and also evolved into a European media center, has already committed its participation. We are seeing high interest in the IFA Fitness & Digital Health section and Home Appliances area as of right now.” – Jens Hethercker – IFA Executive director, Executive Vice President Messe Berlin Group

Today’s news comes after IFA was cancelled in 2021 due to uncertainty of COVID-19. “The industry has a strong desire to return to an in-person event, and we are committed to making that a reality in Berlin this September in a safe and successful manner,” says Martin Ecknig, CEO of the Messe Berlin – the venue where IFA normally takes place.

The Messe venue is now opening for the first tradeshow with limited COVID-19 restrictions. As of April 1 2022, visitors will be able to attend major events in Berlin without presenting proof of testing or vaccination. At Berlin’s next tradeshow (Fruit Logistica from April 5-7), visitors from more than 115 countries have purchased tickets.

With this news from Berlin, it certainly feels like the world is returning to the days before a global pandemic. We did have an in-person CES this year, and although many brands dropped out amidst the omicron-variant outbreak, the show went on, though with many restrictions including a vaccine and mask requirements.

Turn your iPhone into a professional film-making setup with this modular phone-rig

Turn your iPhone into a professional film-making setup with this modular phone-rig

What they fail to tell you is that the “Shot on iPhone” series includes more than just an iPhone. The phone’s camera is supplemented by lights, rigs, stabilizers or tripods, probably a bunch of studio equipment, and lastly, post-production software. Sure, it’s shot on an iPhone, but ‘with a little help from its friends…’ Friends like the SmallRig 3611.

The SmallRig 3611 is a modular ‘phone cage’ that lets you turn your iPhone into a professional-grade videography setup. Designed to work with iPhones 6-13 (and even a few Android models), the SmallRig 3611 gives you a stable rig to mount your phone onto, eliminating jitter. External handles can be attached to the cage for a more secure grip during filming. This goes a long way in physically stabilizing your footage (especially since you’re gripping the phone with two hands), so that your iPhone camera’s digital stabilization algorithm does its charm, resulting in incredibly cinematic footage. Along with holding your phone in place, the 3611 also lets you mount a wide variety of other accessories, from lights and microphones to even an extra battery pack for your smartphone and other gadgets.

Known for making accessories for phones, DSLRs, Mirrorless cameras, and even film cameras, SmallRig’s catalog spans everything from rigs to mounts, tripods, softboxes, lights, and even lens adapters. The 3611 is a relatively compact phone cage made from aluminum alloy, designed to work broadly with the iPhone and with the Samsung Galaxy series, and even the Pixel series. The rig comes equipped with multiple 1/4”-20 threaded holes and cold shoes to match the SmallRig accessory ecosystem. The rig comes with a clamp that safely and securely holds onto your phone, and can be adjusted/slid around to make sure it grabs your device without blocking the camera or accidentally pressing any buttons.

Once you’re phone’s locked and ready to film, the SmallRig lets you attach either one or two handles at any point on the cage, giving you the flexibility to maneuver your phone however you deem comfortable, and even letting you work in landscape or portrait modes. Additionally, the 3611 rig even sports a tripod mount, for static video capture, and lets you mount a host of other accessories, from professional-grade microphones to lights. There’s even space for an additional battery-pack on the front, letting you film for longer hours, as well as a multiport dongle that lets you connect the battery pack to your phone as well as other accessories.

OnePlus teases the Nord N20 on its way to the US with official renders and specs

OnePlus teases the Nord N20 on its way to the US with official renders and specs

Back in November of last year, the upcoming successor to the OnePlus Nord N10 mid-ranger from 2020 was outed in all its glory through some CAD-based renders. Months have passed, and the Nord N20 still isn’t official, but that will change very soon.

Today OnePlus gave PCMag the image you can see below, which is an official render of the device. As usual, it turns out the leaks were on point – the design here is the same.

OnePlus teases the Nord N20 on its way to the US with official renders and specs

Alongside the image, the Chinese company also revealed that the handset would feature SuperVOOC fast charging and outed the specs of the Nord N20’s screen. It will be a 60 Hz AMOLED panel with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s a 6. 43″ screen with FHD+ resolution. While OnePlus COO Kinder Liu didn’t outright say it, PCMag speculates that it was either going to be this 60 Hz AMOLED or a 90 Hz LCD panel instead, and the company picked the former over the latter.

The Nord N20 seems heavily targeted at the North American market, with Liu saying that the screen “offers low power consumption as well as better contrast, more vivid colors, and a wider color gamut than what is currently on sale in the North America affordable device market”.

That focus is no accident: the OnePlus Nord line has been a best seller at T-Mobile and MetroPCS since the N10 and N100 hit the shelves in February of last year. OnePlus sold more than 2. 5 million Nord phones in the US last year.

Other rumored specs for the Nord N20, which OnePlus wouldn’t officially confirm at this stage, include the Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and weirdly enough OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 on board even though it’s 2022 already. Anyway, the phone should become available in the US before the end of this month.

Niimbot B21 label printer gives off some classy vintage vibes

Niimbot B21 label printer gives off some classy vintage vibes

Portable printers are the rage these days with photography enthusiasts and organization diehards. You can print photos quickly to send out to friends or stick labels and stickers on items for design identification. These small printers are marked with technology or computers in a variety of designs. However, they also have appealing colors that appeal to younger customers. That’s what sets this label printer apart, looking more like a miniature prop from an art deco film rather than something utilitarian and geeky.

Designer: inDare for Niimbot

Right out of the box, your brain will try to think of where the Niimbot B21 thermal label printer fits in terms of design language. Regardless of whether you think it’s from the 30s or 50s with a pinch of art deco elements thrown in, there will be little argument that this thing is beautiful. It is probably more beautiful than any printer could ever make.

Looking like a cross between a typewriter, a cash register, and a radio, the Niimbot B21 is unique among the company’s other label printers in its more luxurious design. The printer is available in black, red or green colors. A few pieces of the printer are adorned with gold or silver, such as the front plate that houses the power button, LED light indicator and stylized company name. A lever on the side allows you to access the printer and replace the paper roll.

As a label printer, the functions of the Niimbot B21 are less exciting than its appearance. Everything except turning the printer on or off has to be done through a smartphone connected via Bluetooth. It doesn’t contain ink, making it easier to transport the printer. However, it uses conventional thermal printing technology for any type of printouts. That means you’re pretty much limited to black and white designs, and your labels will fade out after two or three months.

That’s really nothing new for people who frequently print labels, and they might get a kick out of the Niimbot B21’s unique design anyway. And when the printer eventually breaks down and becomes unusable, it can still function as a decorative piece on your desk, extending its usefulness for years to come.
