Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset may have been delayed to next year

Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset may have been delayed to next year

Sony’s original PlayStation VR came out in late 2016 and is quite old at this point. This January the company finally announced plans to release version 2, revealing the design a month later. Sony never committed to a particular launch date, however, but the assumption was that it will come out this year.

That may be wrong, Ross Young (of Display Supply Chain Consultants) reports that the PlayStation VR2 is coming out next year. It’s not clear what caused the delay, not even if this is a delay – 2023 may have been the original target. However, missing the holiday season could affect sales.

Sony's PlayStation VR2 headset may have been delayed to next year

The PSVR2 is designed to work with the PlayStation 5, communicating over a single USB-C cable. That cable will carry 4K HDR imagery at 90 Hz or 120 Hz. The headset hardware is upgraded with a wider 110° field of view (up from 100° FoV on the original) and a much sharper image thanks to two OLED displays with 2,000 x 2,040 px resolution (vs. a single 1,920 x 1,080 px panel). Two IR cameras for eye tracking give the option for foveated rendering.

Anyway, DSCC is predicting a huge jump in sales of VR headsets this year, despite the delay of both the PSVR2 and Apple’s rumored headset. The target for the industry is to ship over 15 million panels (it’s hard to say how many headsets this works out to – some use one panel, others two).

India’s Enforcement Directorate is looking into the relationship between the Chinese company Xiaomi and its Indian division. Fund flows between the two entities are being reviewed, and that includes royalty payments.

The agency requested documents back in February, including details on foreign funding, shareholding, funding patterns, financial statements and key executives running the business, reported Reuters.

The attack on Xiaomi is yet another step India is taking amid rising tensions with its neighboring country. Previously, scrutiny involved raiding the brand’s office in India in a separate investigation over alleged income tax evasion. Other Chinese makers were raided as well.

vivo X80 Pro takes impressive photos in the dark, latest leak reveals

vivo X80 Pro takes impressive photos in the dark, latest leak reveals

The vivo X70 series brought impressive smartphones with mighty cameras, and the company is planning to keep it going with the next lineup. A photo appeared online, revealing the upcoming vivo X80 Pro looks, which will have four shooters, one of them being a periscope lens.

The device will be powered by a Dimensity 9000 chip, and thanks to its dedicated ISP will take impressive night shots in a low-lit environment. On top of that, it will offer a preview before taking the picture, which is something that we’re yet to see from any other company.

The camera alignment on the photo looks unusual. It is in line with the design on the back of the X Fold and X Note, but the large periscope module clearly forced that camera to move away from the circle, creating a somewhat messy overall setup. Still, if the camera capabilities are even better than the X70 series we are sure many wouldn’t mind.

We’ll be on the lookout for more leaks on the upcoming vivo X80 series and keep you posted!

[Interview] Refining the Innovative Design of Samsung’s Bespoke Jet(tm)

[Interview] Refining the Innovative Design of Samsung’s Bespoke Jet(tm) – Samsung Global Newsroom

(From left to right) Vacuum engineers Hun Kang, Yoonkyung Cho, Jongkuk Lim and Daon Lee pose with the Bespoke Jet(tm) and its All-in-One Clean Station(tm), Samsung’s latest innovative cordless vacuum that they helped bring to life.

Offering a powerful end-to-end clean with an All-in-One Clean Station(tm), Samsung Electronics’ Bespoke Jet(tm) vacuum makes tidying up the house as easy as can be.

To learn more about how Samsung optimized the feature-packed vac to cater to consumers’ evolving needs, Samsung Newsroom spoke with vacuum cleaner engineer and project leader Jongkuk Lim and his team who were in charge of the appliance’s development. Read on to find out all you need to know about Samsung’s inspiration for the Bespoke Jet(tm) and the innovative technologies that brought the device to life.

Putting Consumers’ Needs First

Jongkuk Lim shares his team’s insights that show that today’s consumers increasingly prioritize hygiene and weight as key aspects of their cordless vacuum experience.

Recently, as people around the world have begun to spend more time at home, they’ve started to place more focus on keeping their living spaces clean. This has led to increased interest in stick vacuum cleaners that are both powerful and easy to use. As Lim explained, performance and ease of use were just two of the many factors that Samsung considered when refining the Bespoke Jet(tm)’s design.

“Markets around the world are quickly shifting from corded vacuum cleaners to a cordless robot or stick vacuums, which help reduce manual labor,” said Lim. These are the most basic, yet important consumer needs.” Lim said. These are some of the most important and basic consumer requirements .”

That difference between homes in Samsung’s native Korea and those abroad underlines the importance of tailoring appliances to meet a wide range of consumer needs. As Lim noted, when developing the Bespoke Jet(tm), Samsung prioritized cleaning performance and runtime while also ensuring that the device would deliver on two key aspects of vacuum design that are becoming increasingly important to today’s consumers: hygiene and weight.

“HTMODE_ Korean customers are satisfied with the suction power, brush performance and battery life, but what makes them stand out from others is their concern about vacuum weight,” Lim said. “They prefer strong yet lightweight vacuums.”

The Bespoke Jet(tm)’s Multi-layered Filtration System traps up to 99. 9999% of dust particles.

With consumers at home and abroad showing increased interest in hygiene due to COVID-19, Samsung equipped the Bespoke Jet(tm) with a Multi-layered Filtration System that traps up to 99. 9999% of dust particles. 1 As air is sucked in, the main cyclone separates large dust particles, which are picked up in a metal mesh grille filter. The microfilter and the patented Jet Cyclone from Samsung capture fine dust particles. Finally, a fine dust filter traps micro dust2 that can easily escape.

To illustrate how the Bespoke Jet(tm) caters to regional differences, vacuum development team member Hun Kang noted how people in certain countries are accustomed to wearing shoes at home, while others take them off. “Those who live in countries where people are expected to take their shoes off inside often live in houses with wooden floors,” said Kang. “We generally see high demand in these countries for wet mops.”

To meet their needs, Kang added, the Bespoke Jet(tm) comes with the Spray Spinning Sweeper. 3 Its antibacterial mop pads are reusable, and it enables users to manually spray as much water as they want without worrying about the mop pads drying out.

Hygiene Is King

When designing the Bespoke Jet(tm), Samsung was very particular about details and features that could deliver a thorough and clean vacuum. This commitment to cleanliness is reflected in features like the vacuum’s All-in-One Clean Station(tm), which automatically empties the dustbin. This convenient feature, as Daon Lee from the team explained it, is increasingly important.

Jongkuk Lim introduces the Bespoke Jet(tm)’s powerful All-in-One Clean Station(tm).

” “A few years back, only a small number of vacuum cleaners were able to empty the dustbin automatically.” Lee said. “However, since the introduction of the Samsung Jet Clean Station(tm), this capability has become a core function of vacuum cleaners, including stick models. With the growing need for hygienic products, being able to automatically empty the dustbin is no longer a ‘bonus’ for vacuums; it’s a key purchasing factor.”

The All-in-One Clean Station(tm) automatically charges and empties the dustbin of the Bespoke Jet(tm) when docked for utmost convenience.

When the Bespoke jet(tm), the All-in One Clean Station(tm), automatically charges the device and emptys the dustbin. When emptying the dustbin, Samsung’s innovative Air Pulse technology4 utilizes strong air pressure to prevent fine dust particles from scattering in the air, keeping living spaces clean and hygienic.

Lightweight Yet Powerful

Suction power was another key consideration for Lim and his team. The team made improvements to the model that increase suction power and efficiency.

” The Bespoke Jet(tm), which is outfitted with an advanced digital inverter motor that’s faster, smaller, more efficient, and has a longer battery life, is equipped.” Lim said. This motor is lighter and produces amazing suction power. It’s capable of rotating at up to 135,000rpm, which is a significant improvement over the previous model’s maximum speed of 110,000rpm.”

Jet Cyclone technology boosts the vacuum’s suction. Equipped with 27 air holes that minimize suction loss, the feature’s high-efficiency multi-cyclone structure creates an optimal air path that reduces air resistance around the dustbin and hygienically traps fine dust particles sucked into the vacuum.

Lim also shed some light on how Samsung complemented the Bespoke Jet(tm)’s powerful innovations with a lightweight design that sets a new standard for stick vacuums to follow. “At just 2. 44kg, the upgraded Bespoke Jet(tm) boasts the lightest weight in its class thanks to its high-performance, extremely lightweight motor that was developed through close collaboration between Samsung’s motor development team and others,” said Lim. “We also reduced the diameter of a drum inside the Slim Action Brush from 62mm to 44mm to make the brush even lighter and reduce wrist fatigue while cleaning.”

Convenient Cleaning

Samsung went to great lengths to equip the Bespoke Jet(tm) with an eye-catching design that’s both sleek and intuitive. This vacuum blends in seamlessly with the decor of consumers and features key improvements that increase convenience.

Lim said that enhancing the vacuum’s shape required careful coordination between Samsung’s design department to find ways to give users more convenience and maintain the sleek aesthetic of the device. Lim said that after a lot of discussion with the team we came up with the All-in-One Cleaning Station(tm), which is able to hold the stick cleaner and doesn’t require a separate tray. This vacuum looks sleeker and takes up much less space.

Yoonkyung Cho shares the process of trial-and-error the team went through to develop the most optimal brush design for the Bespoke Jet(tm).

Other convenience-oriented enhancements include the addition of a soft roll to the Jet Dual Brush, which can pick up larger dust particles on hard floors. The vacuum also has an LCD display and long-lasting battery. For the soft roller, team member Yoonkyung Cho explained: “We created several mockups in different styles to develop the most optimal design that would allow the front part of the brush to move in a natural way.

The Bespoke Jet(tm)’s intuitive digital LCD display provides users with all the information they need at a glance.

“The intuitive digital LCD display allows users to monitor key indicators such as runtime for each mode, charging time, maintenance and repair instructions for easy control and management, while the lightweight detachable battery guarantees up to 120 minutes of runtime,” noted Cho. “This means that users no longer need to worry about their vacuum’s battery running out while cleaning.”

Yoonkyung Cho showcases the Bespoke Jet(tm)’s portable and easy-to-use design.

Certified Performance

The Bespoke Jet(tm), which has been internationally recognized for its outstanding performance in trapping fine particles and allergens by a variety of testing and certification agencies, such as the British Allergy Foundation and Germany’s SLG Pruf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH.

The vacuum received the former’s highest five-star rating for trapping 99. 999% of fine dust between 0.5-4. 2um in size, and was recognized by the latter for reducing exposure to allergens. In addition, the Clean Station(tm) is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for reducing dust emissions by up to 400 times when the dustbin is emptied.

Lim acknowledged that the pandemic had impacted the development of the vacuum, but they couldn’t have been happier with their final product.

” Working from home wasn’t easy,” Lim said. Lim said that working from home was not easy, but each member of the team worked tirelessly towards the same goal, in spite the difficulties posed by pandemic. I am thankful to all of them for developing such a wonderful product that eventually received such excellent evaluations from external organizations.”

Innovating For Consumers

Daon Lee shares insights into the innovative journey the Bespoke Jet(tm) has gone on so far.

In previous years, the cordless vacuum cleaner market has been primarily focused on product specifications, such as suction, running time and device weight, but Samsung and Lim’s team have been innovating in this space with the introduction of the Clean Station(tm) in 2020. The Clean Station(tm) has been the number two selling factor for Korean vacuum cleaners. With the new focus on convenience and automatic emptying, it is the most popular product in this market.

The team has moved from the mechanical engineering department to product ergonomics. Lim stated that the team plans to develop and explore new technology and innovative functionalities during the whole vacuum cleaning process. “We will put our best foot forward to genuinely surprise our customers and lead rapid development in the vacuum cleaner market.”

With hygiene-oriented lifestyles here to stay Lim and his team now have an idea for the Bespoke Jet(tm), and other vacuum products’ future. “My ambition is to provide the most optimal cleaning solutions based on consumers’ lifestyles that analyze cleaning patterns with the help of AI technologies,” affirmed Lim.

Amidst ever-increasing competition in the global consumer electronics market, Samsung is seeking to become the world’s best vacuum maker through endless development of their core technologies to ensure optimized performance, improved hygiene functionality and optimized user convenience, all at the best possible quality.

[Interview] Saatchi Art and Samsung The Frame Art Store Take Virtual Art to a Next Level

[Interview] Saatchi Art and Samsung The Frame Art Store Take Virtual Art to a Next Level – Samsung Global Newsroom

Samsung’s Art Store boasts an extensive library of artwork thanks to its expansive partnerships with artists and galleries around the world. Its partnership with renowned digital art gallery and network Saatchi Art has brought some of the most highly viewed artworks in the Art Store to home, and is one of Samsung’s longest-standing partners since the 2017 launch of The Frame.

Based on the partnership with Saatchi Art, Samsung introduced ‘The Frame X Saatchi Art’ gallery at the London Design Festival in 2017

Samsung Newsroom interviewed Sarah Meller (Senior Director of Brand and Marketing Strategy, Saatchi Art) about their partnership and how the network views digital art and the Art Store. This gives you an inside look at the unique relationship that elevates the virtual world.

Q: So, what made you decide to collaborate with the Art Store in the beginning?

We wanted to lead the way in using technology to make the art world more accessible to everyone. We felt it would be a better way to make art more central in people’s lives and increase appreciation for it.

Q – What item would you suggest to The Frame’s users for them to use through its Art Mode?

It’s difficult to pick just one. Rebecca Wilson, chief curator at Saatchi Art, selected several pieces of art for The Frame, which are a testimony to the versatility of the TV. They are as diverse and equally stunning as each other, and include everything from Claire Desjardin’s abstract paintings to Dean West’s fine art landscape photography.

If I had to choose a few, I would recommend:

  • Dancer: Gama #0 by Cody Choi: The contemporary photographer and choreographer who is best known for his stunning, figurative portraits of dancers in motion. As a dancer himself, Cody can masterfully capture the dynamism and passion of his subjects.

  • Boomerang House by Cecile Van Hanja: She is best known for her abstracted renditions of modern architectural spaces. Cecile’s paintings depicting homes and pools immediately transport guests to mid-century spaces.

  • Winter Warm II by Sandy Dooley: She is an impressionist artist who spontaneously splatters paint with vibrant hues that characterize her harmonious landscapes, inspired by memories of growing up in the English countryside.

Q. How has the Art Store changed since your partnership with Samsung?

What improvements do you think are the best?

Since we partnered with the Art Store in 2017, its selection has grown tremendously, which has been very inspiring. It’s been wonderful to see iconic institutions like the Musee du Louvre join in and bring museum-quality art into the homes of viewers around the world.

Q – How has Saatchi Art changed since your first partnership with Samsung?

At Saatchi Art, we support our artists as they explore emerging mediums and styles. Our offerings have increased in digital art and NFT. And we are thrilled because not only do NFTs offer real practical benefits to artists, but also give them a new medium in which to express their creativity. This is where we are most excited about expanding our mission.

Q: How do you feel about technology changing the way in which people appreciate art?

Technology offers many advantages when it comes down to the arts. While real-life art experiences will never go away, nor should they, technological advances like the ones shown through the Art Store are transforming the way people access and consume art. Ultimately, these changes lead to more democratization, more diversity, more experimentation and more creativity.

Another benefit to The Frame are the lighting effects and subsequent colors. When it comes to art display, lighting is crucial. The fact that The Frame can automatically adjust the screen’s brightness as lighting conditions change helps to maintain the natural colors of the artworks, ensuring a great viewing experience for consumers.

To see art from this partnership with Saatchi Art, head to the Art Store on The Frame.
