The Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G was introduced earlier this month with a Snapdragon 695 chipset. The name will be mostly seen in European markets, while in Asia it will be known as Oppo Reno7 Z 5G.
We now have a unit to review and it is the prettier Rainbow-colored version. It has a lovely design that plays with light in such a way that the colors appear different when looked at from various angles.
The unit comes with a 33W charger and the appropriate cable. The Reno7 Lite is an impressively light device with flat sides and a 6. 43″ screen that makes it refreshingly easy to handle. The front panel is AMOLED, and Oppo managed to place the fingerprint scanner underneath. Although the power button remains flat, it can only be used to power your phone or wake Google Assistant if you press longer.
Oppo ships the phone with 8GB RAM and storage is 128GB, but just over 100GB are user-available. The Reno7 Lite 5G takes microSD cards slot in a hybrid slot – you must pick either a second SIM or the memory card.
The camera design is typical for the Reno7 series with two bit circles within a rectangular island. Oppo installed ring lights beneath the rims to reduce bulging. Here, only the main lenses protrude. This feature, also known as Orbit light or Breathing light, acts as a notification light.
Press materials claimed it can “blink in a variety of colors depending on different scenarios” and can shine for 50,000 hours. 2 hours of blinking light can take only 1% of the battery, which hardly will ever take a toll on endurance. Still, we will test the device and report back whether these claims are correct.
The Oppo Reno7 Lite 5G costs around EUR400 in Europe, which is somewhat higher than the Reno7 Z in Thailand, which is THB11,880, which equals EUR320.
We are already working on the review, and we will be ready soon with a verdict on whether these prices are worth it.
Here’s everything we know so far about the 2022 iPad Pro
Apple is set to release another generation of iPad Pro in 2022. A year after the model with the M1 chip, miniLED display, and 5G support was first introduced, the company is rumored to launch an even better iPad Pro this year with the upcoming M2 chip.
Design and display: no miniLED 11-inch model
Rumors regarding a new design for the iPad Pro 2022 started in June 2021. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this iPad could feature a glass back to enable wireless charging, most likely via MagSafe. Then, in December, the journalist corroborated with his previous report.
Wireless Charging replaces the traditional power cable with an electromagnetic mat. This makes it much easier to charge your device. It has grown into a common feature in smartphones but is a rarity among tablets. Apple added wireless charging to iPhones in 2017 and last year updated it with a magnet-based MagSafe system that ensured more consistent charging speeds.
The company is currently testing an identical MagSafe system on the iPad Pro. Wireless charging will likely be slower than directly plugging in a charger to the iPad’s Thunderbolt port, which will remain as part of the next models.
In January 2022, 9to5Mac was able to discover that Apple hit a roadblock in its plans to redesign the iPad Pro with MagSafe. While the company was testing a full glass back on the iPad Pro 2022, it became a drawback as it would make the product easier to damage and also much more fragile.
According to our sources, the company has developed iPad Pro prototypes with a larger Apple logo (similar to the one on the new MacBook Pro), but this one is made of glass. As a result, power would be transmitted through the glass logo. To prevent accidental accidents, the prototype has stronger magnets and supports faster charging speeds than MagSafe iPhone.
About its display, Apple is likely to maintain two different sizes: 11-inch and 12.9-inch. Although it was rumored that the 11-inch model would switch the LCD panel for a miniLED display, analysts Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple will keep the LCD technology for the smaller iPad due to high costs of production.
Processor and storage capabilities
After Apple surprised everyone with the addition of the M1 chip on the iPad Pro, it’s likely for the company to add an upgraded version of this processor to the upcoming 2022 iPad Pro. Naturally, this iPad would feature the M2 chip, which is rumored to be released with a redesigned MacBook Air. 9to5Mac sources corroborate that this new iPad will feature this new processor. It should be faster than the M1, but it will not beat the M1 Pro, Max, or Ultra chips.
For its storage capabilities, it’s likely that Apple will maintain the same options, as there are no rumors regarding more than 2TB of storage, which means:
128GB;
256GB;
512GB;
1TB;
2TB.
As Apple has been pushing away from the 64GB models on the iPhones, and all the new Macs start at 256GB, it would make sense if the company starts the 2022 iPad Pro with 256GB of storage instead of 128GB.
Battery, 5G, and new accessories
9to5Mac is able to confirm that Apple is working on a new iPad Pro with a larger battery, as some users complain that the Magic Keyboard causes excessive battery drain. Not only that, but as you already read in this roundup, Apple is likely to introduce the ability to charge the 2022 iPad Pro with a MagSafe charger that’s even faster than the one available for the iPhone.
Although there are no rumors about the 2022 iPad Pro’s 5G capabilities, it’s likely that Apple will bring more bands for the upcoming model. Although there are no reports regarding accessories for the iPad Pro’s [****************************************************************************************************************************************************** ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************]G capabilities, it is possible that Apple will introduce the MagSafe connector to charge the iPad Pro.
When the 2022 iPad Pro will launch?
9to5Mac believes this new iPad will be introduced in the second half of this year. While we first believed that the company could be planning to unveil a redesigned MacBook Air alongside this tablet, it seems like the new Mac could be announced around June.
Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said in his Power On newsletter that Apple will likely launch this new iPad Pro around September and November.
How much the 2022 iPad Pro will cost?
The 2021 12. 9-inch iPad Pro got a $100 price increase due to the miniLED display addition. 9to5Mac doesn’t think Apple will change the price of the Pro iPads, mostly because it’s not going to bring miniLED to the 11-inch version.
128GB: $799
256GB: $899
512GB: $1,099
1TB: $1,499
2TB: $1,899
iPad Pro 12. 9-inch with Wi-Fi
128GB: $1099
256GB: $1199
512GB: $1399

WhatsApp for iOS now supports up to 32 participants group voice calls, Reactions coming soon
The latest WhatsApp iOS version brings a new feature that the company first teased last week. Starting now, users will be able to participe in group voice calls with up to 32 participants. This update contains everything you need to know.
WhatsApp is readying a lot of new features for the coming months, such as Reactions, increased size files users can send, community function, and more. With version 22.8. 80 of the app, users will now be able to participate in group voice calls with up to 32 people.
This update includes a redesign interface with a social audio layout, speaker highlight, and waveforms.
This new WhatsApp app for iOS features an updated design of voice message bubbles, info screens for groups and contacts. You can also access your favourite media gallery with a new feature.
It’s important that you note that these new features have been made available to users in the app. However, it could take some time for all users to see them, just as with WhatsApp new functions.
Apart from these features being released to all users, WABetaInfo recently discovered that the developers are readying Reactions 2.0 to its desktop version. This means that in a future update users will be able to react to a message with any emoji they want.
Last but not least, WhatsApp keeps working on the ability to remove the expiration date of a disappearing message. WABetaInfo explains:
When you keep a message it won’t disappear from the chat after its expiration, but anyone can un-keep it in the case they don’t agree to keep the message in the chat after the expiration. If a message is kept, it means it was a disappearing message converted to a normal message to avoid the expiration. If someone attempts to delete a message they will immediately remove it from chat
.

Apple @ Work: Tailscale is a first-principles approach to VPN technology with full macOS and iOS support
Apple @ Work is brought to you by Mosyle, the leader in modern mobile device management (MDM) and security for Apple enterprise and education customers. Over 28,000 organizations leverage Mosyle solutions to automate the deployment, management and security of millions of Apple devices daily. Request a FREE account today and discover how you can put your Apple fleet on auto-pilot at a price point that is hard to believe.
There’s a concept of building from first principles that can create some pretty incredible products. VPN is one example of a technology I have long believed was too complicated. Remote work has brought VPNs to the forefront, with employees wanting access to company resources wherever they may be. I recently came across a product that works great on macOS that takes that first-principles approach to how VPN connections work, and it’s called Tailscale.
About Apple @ Work: Bradley Chambers managed an enterprise IT network from 2009 to 2021. Through his experience deploying and managing firewalls, switches, a mobile device management system, enterprise grade Wi-Fi, 100s of Macs, and 100s of iPads, Bradley will highlight ways in which Apple IT managers deploy Apple devices, build networks to support them, train users, stories from the trenches of IT management, and ways Apple could improve its products for IT departments.
VPN setup is clunky at best. Different firewalls require different setups, and it can sometimes be challenging to get the proper devices to the correct servers depending on the subnet, IP scheme, etc. By implementing Tailscale, it’s easy to connect to another network by using a stable IP address for each device (server, laptop, etc.). No matter the location of nodes in the physical world, these addresses remain the same. Each device gets an IP in the 100.X range, and it’s assigned based on the device and the Tailscale login.
Using Tailscale with macOS
I’ve got a fairly simple use case with Tailscale for personal use. I want to access my Umbrel server (learn how to build one in my past guide) remotely as well as my Plex server. Umbrel has a Tailscale app in its App Store, so the setup was painless. It is now accessible from any location. Because it’s on my Umbrel and Plex servers, when I need to access them directly I enable Tailscale on Mac. Then I can easily connect to these devices.
What problem does this solve in the enterprise?
Tailscale is built on top of WireGuard. WireGuard, a secure encrypted network protocol with a lot of benefits over traditional VPNs, is fast and reliable. Tailscale adds to WireGuard by adding automatic mesh configuration, single sign-on support, 2-multi-factor authentication, NAT traversal, and centralized Access Control Lists (ACLs).
Let’s suppose you have employees scattered across the country or world. You want to secure let them use company resources such as internal servers via VPN, while still allowing public internet traffic to run locally. TailScale works this way out of the box. Tailscale acts as an overlay network, routing traffic only between Tailscale devices. It doesn’t handle traffic that isn’t aimed at Tailscale devices. This default configuration allows Tailscale to run on macOS and iOS at all times, without having all traffic sent through it.
To sum it up, Tailscale is an affordable VPN that requires no configuration, installs on any device in a few seconds, handles firewall rules for you, and works from anywhere. While my use case is 100% personal, you can see the benefits it could bring to enterprises everywhere. Tailscale is truly a VPN for the remote-work world. It’s one of those rare solutions that “just works.” Pricing starts at free for one user with up to 20 devices, and paid plans start at $5/month (paid annually). So, if you’re struggling to roll out VPN access to your entire company in a way that’s not stretching your team with troubleshooting, check out Tailscale. Its VPN so simple, I am not sure Apple or Google could have made it any easier. It works great on macOS and iPhone and iPad.

LG V60 ThinQ is now receiving Android 12 in the US
LG might have pulled out of the smartphone market completely, but the Korean firm has not been averse to software support and does not want to disappoint its customers. So it announced that it would update select models to Android 12 and even to Android 13, and the rollouts for the Velvet have already started.
And now a new LG device is joining this party. We’re talking about the LG V60 ThinQ in the US, and specifically those units that were sold by T-Mobile. Multiple reports on Reddit have surfaced from people owning this device, and receiving the update to Android 12.
That’s excellent news of course, but it’s also rather odd, since the V60 was on neither of LG’s two lists of eligible devices. We don’t mind that the company keeps surprising us.
Anyway, the update’s changelog is short and vague, but you should expect to receive all the goodies that Google packed into the Android 12 release last year, with some LG paint on top. You also get the March 2022 security patch level, which obviously isn’t current, but can we really complain when the company issuing it has called it quits in the smartphone world?
The update’s download size is 1. 17GB, so perhaps only grab it from a fast enough network. As always, it’s likely that the rollout is staged, so it may take a few more days until it reaches all of the V60 units still out there in the wild.
Man uses AirTags and PowerPoint presentation to ask airline for his lost bags
Since Apple introduced AirTag last year, multiple interesting stories related to the item tracker have been shared on the web. A man lost his luggage on a trip to his wedding used AirTags with a PowerPoint presentation in order to request his bag.
Elliot Sharod and his wife, Helen, were flying back to the UK from their wedding in South Africa on April 17. The couple purchased tickets that included stopovers at Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt. However, they were forced to change their flight schedule due to the pandemic. Their luggage was not returned to the UK when they made it.
Sharod put an AirTag in each bag so that he could locate them on the map. The Find My app enabled the couple to track their bags on a map. They discovered that their bag went to Frankfurt but never made it to London.
Aer Lingus, the airline responsible for the flight, said that the bags would be delivered to Sharod’s home address. Two of three bags arrived the next night.
After numerous calls to Aer Lingus with no results, Sharod complained via Twitter. But even that wasn’t enough. Sharod decided to try a new approach. He posted videos, and made a PowerPoint presentation using screenshots from Find My App showing where his bag was.
He told CNN that the bag was located in two different places in Pimlico, and it has never moved since April 21. However, the airline was unable to find it, so Sharod contacted the police as he now believes the bag was stolen.
Hi @AerLingus – perhaps a PowerPoint presentation on the journey you’ve sent my lost/stolen bag on will help?
I’ve been telling you repeatedly where it is, and you do nothing to change it.
While this saga doesn’t seem to be nearing an end, it’s always interesting to see how useful AirTag can actually be in situations like this. Sharod should be able get his bag back.
