Samsung Galaxy A13, A23 launch in India as Galaxy M52 5G gets Android 12-based One UI 4. 1

The Samsung Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23 unveiled earlier this month debuted in India today. Both smartphones are offered in Light Blue, Black, and Orange colors, with the Galaxy A13 having an additional White option.

The Galaxy A13 comes in 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB memory configurations priced at INR14,999 ($195/EUR180) and INR17,499 ($230/EUR210), respectively. The Galaxy A23, on the other hand, has 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB options. The former is priced at INR19,499 ($255/EUR230) and the latter at INR20,999 ($275/EUR250). Both phones can be purchased from Samsung India’s official website, but the Galaxy A23’s 8GB/128GB model is unavailable at the time of writing this.

The Samsung Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23 are basically the same phones with slightly different designs and chipsets. The A13 is powered by the Exynos 850 SoC, whereas the A23 has the Snapdragon 680 chip at the helm.

The rest of the specs include a 6. 6″ FullHD+ LCD, Android 12-based One UI 4. 1, side-mounted fingerprint reader, and 5,000 mAh battery with 25W charging. But Samsung doesn’t bundle the 25W adapter with the phones, so you’ll have to buy it separately if you want faster charging speeds.

For photography, both smartphones have five cameras each onboard – an 8MP selfie shooter inside the notch, with the 50MP primary camera on the rear joined by 5MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro units. However, it’s worth noting that the Galaxy A23’s main camera comes with OIS, and the smartphone can record 4K videos at 30FPS and 120FPS slow-motion videos in HD resolution, which the Galaxy A13 can’t.

You can head this way to check out the detailed specs of the Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23.

In other news, Samsung released the Android 12-based One UI 4. 1 update for the Galaxy M52 5G in India which was launched in the country last September with Android 11-based One UI 3.1.

Xiaomi 12 Lite appears on Geekbench with Snapdragon 778G, 8GB RAM

Xiaomi launched its flagship 12 series around the world, and while we have an affordable not-really-flagship Xiaomi 12X smartphone in the lineup, the company is also working on a lower-positioned Xiaomi 12 Lite.

The phone with model number 2203129G appeared on Geekbench, revealing a Snapdragon 778G chipset and an 8GB RAM option.

The results of the benchmark are in line with other phones, sporting the same chipset – 778 for a single core and 2,864 for multiple cores. The listing also revealed Android 12 out of the box, which should have MIUI 13 on top.

Last year Xiaomi introduced a Mi 11 Lite in 5G and 4G flavors, but it’s likely that they’ll only do a 5G one this time around.

Qualcomm is allegedly announcing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ in May

Qualcomm is allegedly announcing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ in May

Ever since the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset was announced, rumors have been flying about a mythical “+” version, which would be made using TSMC’s 4nm node, instead of Samsung’s – and that fueled a lot of speculation about this Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ being less prone to overheat and throttle its performance than its non-Plus sibling, since TSMC’s 4nm process is widely hailed as being more efficient.

Today, a reliable source informs us that the SoC will be officially announced sometime in May. It stands to reason that devices powered by it could then be announced immediately afterwards – so if this pans out, expect the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ phones to be unveiled before the end of May and become available in June. This list includes Motorola, Lenovo, OnePlus and Xiaomi as first-phase customers.

Qualcomm is allegedly announcing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ in May

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s model number is SM8450, and the 8 Gen 1+ will apparently be identified as SM8475, signifying that Qualcomm is definitely expecting it to be a noticeable step up compared to its sibling.

New 7-series chips will also debut around the same time, and these, like the 8 Gen 1+, are already in smartphone makers’ hands for testing and product launch preparations.

OnePlus will also unveil the Bullets Wireless Z2 at its event on March 31

OnePlus will also unveil the Bullets Wireless Z2 at its event on March 31

Earlier today, OnePlus finally revealed the date on which it will announce the 10 Pro for global markets – it’s March 31, narrowly making the oft-rumored unveiling timeframe of “Q1 2022”, after having initially launched the handset in China back in January.

But it turns out the phone won’t be the only new product on stage at the end of this month. It will be joined by the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2, which judging by the name should succeed the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z released all the way back in 2020. It’s been a long time coming for successors to these, and in fact the Bullets Wireless Z2 have been leaked earlier this month.

OnePlus will also unveil the Bullets Wireless Z2 at its event on March 31

According to that info, these will be OnePlus’ most affordable wireless earbuds (although as you can see they’re not truly wireless), and will come in blue and black, with physical volume and media controls on the right side of the neckband. The buds will stick together when not in use, thanks to magnets, but none of the internal specs have been outed yet.

That is however set to change very soon: by the looks of the official teaser page, OnePlus plans to slow-drip release information about the earbuds, starting on March 25, when something related to bass capabilities will be revealed. Then, on March 27, we’ll get to know some fast charging specs, and finally on March 29 it will be time to learn about the pair’s water resistance.

While you wait for the March 31 event, you can head to the Source linked below and register to be notified about news regarding the Bullets Wireless Z2. This will give you the chance to win a pair of free pairs.

Oppo introduces Ice-Skin cooling case for Find X5 Pro

Oppo introduces Ice-Skin cooling case for Find X5 Pro

Oppo announced the Find X5 Pro a month ago as its latest flagship with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The phone already has an advanced built-in cooling solution, but the company now introduces a special Ice-Skin cooling case that helps keep the temperature further 2-3 degrees C lower.

Oppo introduces Ice-Skin cooling case for Find X5 Pro

The case has a special hydrogel layer, developed by Wuhan University. Regular hydrogels draw moisture from the air and then release it through evaporation. However, in order to provide long-term cooling and not just a one-time solution, the researchers developed Glacier Mat – modified hydrogel that re-absorbs moisture from the air over and over again at lower temperatures of the atmosphere, creating a circular cooling cycle.

The Ice-Skin case doesn’t add too much heft or thickness to the Find X5 Pro bulkier compared to a regular protective case.

Some users in China who preordered the Find X5 Pro are receiving the Ice-Skin cooling case with it, but Oppo is yet to say anything regarding a global launch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4 to run SD 8 Gen 1 Plus, a scrollable phone may join them

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4 to run SD 8 Gen 1 Plus, a scrollable phone may join them

Samsung already introduced the Galaxy S flagships for 2022, and now the company is obviously shifting its focus to this year’s foldables, namely Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4. The leakster Ice Universe reported these devices will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset.

He also corroborates the Korean manufacturer yesterday’s rumor of a third device to launch alongside them – it is code-named Diamond and may even have a scroll screen, similar to the Oppo X 2021 rollable concept.

Is this a Samsung rollable phone? Is this a Samsung rollable phone?

Samsung does have its own flagship chipset – the Exynos 2200 with a GPU based on ARM architecture, but the Galaxy foldables have so far arrived with Qualcomm SoCs ever since the first Fold three years ago.

As for the rollable phone, Samsung Display is capable of manufacturing flexible panels, but there are still plenty of challenges remaining so it will be manufactured in very limited numbers. Oppo’s prototype was showcased in late 2020, and almost 18 months later we are yet to see a commercial-ready product.
