Realme GT Neo2 starts receiving stable Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12

Realme launched its beta Realme UI 3.0 program for GT Neo2 owners and now the handset is finally receiving the stable software update. Of course, the update includes the underlying Android 12 OS as well.

Realme GT Neo2 starts receiving stable Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12

Along with the Android 12 intrinsic features, the Realme UI 3.0 also delivers a number of proprietary features from the company. You can tweak the UI and animations, get more Always-on customizations, and enjoy performance and gaming improvements.

Realme has not yet announced the OTA upgrade, but users are reporting more. This leads us to believe that it’s a staged rollout and if everything goes according to plan, all GT Neo2 owners will get to download the RMX3370_11.A. 08 version.

Leaked roadmap suggests Motorola will launch four more Edge phones this year

Leaked roadmap suggests Motorola will launch four more Edge phones this year

Edge is Motorola’s premiere series and so far we’ve seen several models, including the Edge 30 Pro (aka Edge Plus 2022 in the US). This phone will soon be surpassed by the model code named “Frontier”, which will likely be marketed as the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra globally and X30 Pro in China (following the X30). The company’s roadmap includes at least three more devices, according to leaked info.

The Edge 30 Ultra will feature a 200 MP main camera, likely Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1. This may be the highest resolution smartphone camera at launch and it will have OIS to boot. Additional cameras include a 50 MP ultra wide and a 12 MP telephoto (2x) cameras, plus a 60 MP selfie cam.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (“Frontier”)Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (“Frontier”)

That’s all according to rumors, anyway. The phone is also said to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset, the rumored TSMC version of Qualcomm’s top chip. It will be paired with 8/12 GB of LPDDR RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The 6.67” P-OLED display should offer 144 Hz refresh rate, while the 4,500 mAh battery is said to support the 125W charger that was teased by a Motorola executive.

Then there’s the Motorola Edge 30 (“Dubai”). We’ve seen this one run Geekbench with a Snapdragon 778G+ chipset. This model will also offer a 144 Hz P-OLED display (6.55”, FHD+), along with a 50 MP main camera, 50 MP ultra wide and a 2 MP depth sensor, plus a 32 MP shooter on the front. The battery will have 4,020 mAh capacity, there’s no word on charging yet.

Later on, a Dubai+ model will be revealed (market name unknown). This one is said to feature a new MediaTek Dimensity MT6879, which is yet to be announced. It will pack two Cortex-A78 cores (2.6 GHz) and six A55 (2.0 GHz), plus a yet to be seen Mali-G79. This sounds like it will slot in below the rumored Dimensity 7000. The phone will reportedly support a stylus (like the Edge 30 Pro) and will have a 5,000 mAh battery. The leaks haven’t filled in details like screen size or charge speed yet.

A fourth model, likely the Motorola Edge 30 Lite (“Miami”), will bring up the rear. This one will be the smallest with a 6.28” P-OLED display (FHD+, 120 Hz) and a 4,020 mAh battery. It will be super slim, allegedly, measuring less than 7 mm thick. The Lite will be powered by a Snapdragon 695 (with 6/8 LPDDR4x RAM, 128/256 GB storage). As for cameras, it will have a 64+13 MP dual setup on the back and a single 13 MP camera on the front.

Motorola is now the third largest maker in the US after LG pulled out of the market. The brand also has an established presence in Europe and South America too, so we expect to see the new Edge models in those markets. Versions of them will probably appear in China as well, tough there may be slight differences in the specs.

Oppo F21 Pro series is coming on April 12

Oppo F21 Pro series is coming on April 12

Oppo launched the F19 lineup last March, and the company will follow it up with the F21 Pro series next month – on April 12.

This announcement comes from Oppo’s Indian branch, which said that the F21 Pro series will be introduced in India on April 12 at 5PM local time. The lineup includes the F21 Pro 4G and F21 Pro 5G, but it’s unclear if these will be joined by a Pro+ model since there’s no mention of it yet.

The press note sent by Oppo revealed that the F21 Pro 4G and 5G will come in Sunset Orange and Rainbow Spectrum colors, respectively. There will be one common Cosmic Black color for each.

Oppo says that the Rainbow Spectrum version of the 5G variant uses a three-layer texture and a two-layer coating manufacturing process to achieve the dazzling rainbow appearance, while the 4G variant’s Sunset Orange version flaunts a Fiberglass-Leather design on its back that “doubles as a frameless battery cover to make the phone thin, light and durable. “

Oppo says that Sunset Orange was made from lycheegrain leather. It is water-resistant and wear-resistant. The material has a soft feel.

Oppo F21 Pro series is coming on April 12

While Oppo doesn’t explicitly mention if the F21 Pro 5G will also have a leather design version, a promo page set up on Amazon.in reveals that this design will be exclusive to the F21 Pro 4G.

Oppo F21 Pro series is coming on April 12

Oppo hasn’t divulged the specs of either of these phones yet, but the images of the F21 Pro 4G shared by the company reveal the smartphone’s triple camera system on the back will be headlined by a 64MP unit. One of these cameras will also have Orbit Light around them to alert users of incoming calls, new notifications, and more.

Oppo F21 Pro series is coming on April 12

These pictures suggest that the F21 Pro 4G could be a rebranded Reno7 4G announced yesterday. And if that’s true, it will come with the Snapdragon 680 SoC, 6. 43″ 90Hz FullHD+ AMOLED screen, Android 11-based ColorOS 12. 1, in-display fingerprint reader, and a 4,500 mAh battery with 33W charging.

There will be a 32MP selfie shooter on the front, with the 64MP primary camera on the rear joined by 2MP microscope and 2MP depth units.

Realme Pad Mini will launch on April 4, full specs sheet leaks once again

Realme Pad Mini will launch on April 4, full specs sheet leaks once again

The Realme Pad Mini was confirmed to arrive “soon”, and today we learned the launch date is likely to be April 4. The tablet is scheduled to hit the Philippines first, and just five days before the alleged arrival, it was listed on Lazada’s website with the full specs sheet and some promo images.

The specifications and features are in line with what we’ve heard previously – a 6,400 mAh battery with 18W charging, Unisoc chipset and basic resolution for the LCD.

The user interface will be Realme UI for Pad, which was introduced when the first Realme Pad arrived. We expect it will be scaled down for the 8.7” screen (compared with the 10.4” diagonal on the bigger sibling). According to Lazada, the OS is Android 11 and we’re wondering if the Pad Mini will also miss on any future system updates.

The price of the Realme Pad Mini is currently at PHP99,990, but this is just a placeholder because there’s absolutely no chance it would cost the equivalent of almost $2,000. The regular Pad is just south of PHP11,000, so we expect the Pad Mini to be even cheaper – at around PHP10,000, which is about $190.

Sony announces PlayStation Plus subscription service with three tiers and over 700 games

Sony announces PlayStation Plus subscription service with three tiers and over 700 games

Sony has announced a major rework of its online PlayStation Plus service, which will now be including additional tiers that bring a library of games that users can download and play, as well as integrating the cloud-based PlayStation Now service.

The first tier will be PlayStation Plus Essential, which is exactly identical to the current PlayStation Plus service. All of the benefits are still available, including two monthly downloads, online multiplayer, cloud saves and discounts. The pricing will also remain the same, which is $10 monthly, $25 quarterly, and $60 yearly. This tier will apply to all PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The next level is the most exciting. Called PlayStation Plus Extra, this tier brings all the benefits of the Essential tier but also gives users access to a catalog of up to 400 PS5 and PS4 titles, which can be downloaded and played any time as long as the subscription is active. It includes titles from PlayStation Studios as well as third-party developers.

The PlayStation Plus Extra tier is priced at $15 monthly, $40 quarterly, and $100 yearly.

Lastly, there’s PlayStation Plus Premium, which is the most expensive option. This tier includes all benefits from Essential and Extra tiers and brings an additional 340 titles to the catalog of games.

Included in this catalog are PS3 games, which can be played over the cloud, as well as PS1, PS2, and PSP games, which can be played over the cloud or locally.

The Premium tier also enables cloud streaming option for original PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS4 games included in the Extra and Premium tiers. These games can be streamed on a PS5, PS4, or a PC.

Additionally, there will be time-limited trial option, which will let users try select games for a limited amount of time before they decide to buy.

The PlayStation Plus Premium plan will go for $18 monthly, $50 quarterly, and $120 yearly. All existing PlayStation Now customers will be migrated to this plan for no extra cost. It will no longer be an independent service.

The PlayStation Plus Premium plan will only be available in regions that have cloud streaming. In other markets, Sony will be offering the PlayStation Plus Deluxe plan, which will be cheaper and without the cloud streaming component. Everything else will be identical to the Premium tier.

The new PlayStation Plus plans will be released in a phased manner. In June in Asia, the initial launch of PlayStation Plus will take place. Next, North America and Europe will follow. Sony plans to have all PlayStation Network territories to be on the new plans by the end of the first half of 2022.

More information will be released closer to launch.

Xiaomi partnership with Leica seemingly confirmed by MIUI app

Xiaomi partnership with Leica seemingly confirmed by MIUI app

Some partnerships between phone makers and camera companies seem to be little more than marketing ploys. Others, however, have changed mobile photography for the better – and perhaps none more than the cooperation between Huawei and Leica. However, with Huawei’s well documented problems over the past few years, stemming from various US government bans, it’s been selling way less phones than it used to, and Leica might be looking to partner with another smartphone maker.

It’s been rumored already for a few months: the Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s camera module will be Leica branded. But… could this be for real? According to some new information, yes.

Xiaomi 12 Pro (left) and 12 (right) don't have Leica brandingXiaomi 12 Pro (left) and 12 (right) don’t have Leica branding

An enterprising soul went and did a deep dive into the Gallery Editor app built into Xiaomi’s Chinese MIUI ROM. And what he found there, in this app’s code, are translation strings directly related to Leica. The strings refer to filters that can be used when editing photos and videos, which means we should expect to see some Leica-branded filters marketed by Xiaomi alongside the phone’s co-branding. This is nothing special of course, other phone makers have done the same thing before.

Unfortunately the aforementioned strings aren’t implemented yet, so it all looks like some preparatory work for the eventual integration.

While it looks like Xiaomi is indeed going to partner with Leica, what’s still unclear is the extent of this partnership. Will this just be an occasion to slap the Leica logo on a phone, add some Leica-inspired filters to the camera and gallery apps, and call it a day (and a marketing win)? Or will Xiaomi actually cooperate with and use Leica’s expertise to improve the imaging and video output of the 12 Ultra compared to its competitors? That remains to be seen.
