Google updates Search and News to help you steer clear of fake news

Almost a year ago, Google made some notable steps toward limiting the spread of fake news. The company introduced a feature that warns people of unreliable search results. Now, the search giant has added some information literacy tips. This is only available in the US at this time.

Google updates Search and News to help people steer clear of fake news

Google is now trying to teach users how to verify their facts, particularly if it has identified the topic as being evolving and well-researched. It displays suggestions such as searching the author’s name to see if he or she is a legitimate source of information.

The News app will also label Top Stories to promote news sources that are often cited by other publications or if the piece is an interview, an official press release, original content, investigative articles, etc.

Motorola Moto G52 specs leak: 6. 55″ OLED display, Snapdragon 680 chipset

Motorola Moto G52 specs leak: 6. 55″ OLED display, Snapdragon 680 chipset

Half a year ago Motorola unveiled the Moto G71, G51, G41 and G31, now a new cycle is beginning. We already saw the Moto G22 go official earlier this month, now Evan Blass has some details about the G52 to share.

The Motorola Moto G52 doesn’t sound like a sequel to the Moto G51 5G. For starters, it doesn’t support 5G. In fact, it is so different that it is more like an upgraded Moto G41.

Motorola Moto G52 (leaked image)Motorola Moto G52 (leaked image)

The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 680, a 6 nm revamp of the 662. This is actually less capable than the Snapdragon 480+ inside the G51 5G – it has Cortex-A73/A53 derived core (vs. A76/A55) and Adreno 610 (vs. 619), plus the 4G-only modem. The only downside of the 480+ is the older 8 nm node that it was built on, making it less efficient.

The chipset will be paired with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB storage and will run Android 12 out of the box.

Moving on, the Moto G52 will allegedly have a 6. 55″ P-OLED display with FHD+ resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. That is almost completely different from the 6. 8″ 120 Hz IPS LCD of the G51 5G.

The camera department includes a 50 MP main module on the back, joined by an 8 MP ultra wide camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The 16 MP selfie camera will be punch holed into the display. This does sound a lot like the G51 5G camera setup, actually.

Finally, the phone will pack a 5,000 mAh battery (no word on fast charging yet). The body will be rated IP52 for dust and splash resistance and judging by the image above, it will have stereo speakers.

The Motorola Moto G51 5G has an MSRP of EUR230, but is currently down to EUR190 on the company’s official site. The G41 has a tougher to swallow EUR250 price tag. We expect to see the new Moto G52 fall in the same price category.

OnePlus 10 Pro launches globally

OnePlus 10 Pro launches globally

The OnePlus 10 Pro was launched in the early days of 2022 in China, and today, almost three months later, the phone is finally making its global debut.

The device is pretty much the same handset as its Chinese counterpart with one major change for the North American market where it gets downgraded to 65W fast charging, as the global 80W charger is incompatible with 110V networks.

In our review of the OnePlus 10 Pro, we established the difference between the two standards is pretty much non-existent, so it isn’t such a big deal.

OnePlus 10 Pro launches globally

The rest of the OnePlus 10 Pro hardware remains unchanged – the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, coupled with two memory options – 8/128 GB and 12/256 GB.

The screen is a 6. 7″ AMOLED with 1440p resolution, matching the OnePlus 9 Pro, but it’s upgraded to LTPO2 this time around. It provides an actual adaptive refresh rate and varies from 1Hz to 120Hz. OnePlus also calibrated the panel at 500 nits and 1000 nits for more accurate colors across multiple levels of brightness.

OnePlus 10 Pro launches globally

OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a 48MP Sony IMX789 sensor for the main camera – the same imager as its predecessor. The 8MP telephoto camera is also carried over, while the 50MP ultrawide shooter with a Samsung JN1 sensor is a major upgrade.

OnePlus partnered up with Hasselblad, a Swedish camera manufacturer to assist with camera tuning.

The selfie camera is new as well – a 32MP sensor, with ample for the class 1/2. 74″ size and with an f/2. 2 lens in front.

OnePlus 10 Pro launches globally

The global OnePlus 10 Pro is running OxygenOS 12. 1, based on Android 12.

The battery is 5,000 mAh. Americans are getting the 65W charger in the box, while users in Europe and India will be getting the 80W power brick. There is also support for 50W AirVOOC wireless charging, and the company claims the phone can get from 0 to 100% in 47 minutes.

Leakster: the vivo X80 will pair the Dimensity 9000 with a 6. 78″ 120Hz OLED display

Leakster: the vivo X80 will pair the Dimensity 9000 with a 6. 78″ 120Hz OLED display

We’ve seen the leaked specifications for the upcoming vivo X-series phones, but still haven’t a full picture. Digital Chat Station provides another piece of the puzzle, focusing on the vivo X80.

The phone will be powered by the Dimensity 9000, rather than the 8000 as some earlier leaks suggested. The chipset will be cooled by a 4,000 mm2 vacuum chamber. Last month we saw an X80 with the Dimensity 9000 top the AnTuTu and Geekbench charts, this is definitely MediaTek’s best chip yet.

According to a previous leak, the vivo X80 Pro will also use the Dimensity 9000, while the Pro+ model will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead. The X80 and X80 Pro will be differentiated in other ways.

Leakster: the vivo X80 will pair the Dimensity 9000 with a 6.78'' 120Hz OLED display

The vivo X80 will a 6. 78″ Samsung E5 AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate and “DC-like dimming” (the “like” part may be an artifact of digital translation). The X80 Pro is expected to feature a similar display, though it will be sharper – unofficial info claims FHD+ resolution for the X80 and QHD+ for the X80 Pro.

There’s also a mention that the phone will support a special mode that helps run the popular Glory of Kings game at 120 fps. Maybe the X-series will take a page out of iQOO’s playbook.

DCS offers one last tidbit, the X80 will feature an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback. Earlier info suggests that the phone will have a 4,500 mAh battery with 80W wired charging support and will measure 8. 3 mm thick.

YouTube TV is finally getting picture-in-picture on iOS

YouTube TV is finally getting picture-in-picture on iOS

Youtube finally has picture-in-picture mode available for YouTube TV iOS. The feature, which has been on Android for some time now, is rolling out for devices, running iOS 15 and newer, the company announced on Twitter.

Users watching TV programs can exit the app with a simple swipe up from the bottom, and the iPhone/iPad will return to the device’s homepage, while the video will continue running PIP. The window can then be resized and moved around the screen.

The feature is currently present for all YouTube Premium subscribers (both on Android and iOS) who wish to continue watching a video while doing other stuff or simply listen to the audio when the device is locked. Google did reveal it is planning to allow PIP for everyone in the United States, but this clearly hasn’t happened yet.
